I recently started putting together a collection of g1 inspired movieverse figures. I have been super critical of all the figures and have put together a really short list of what i consider is the best. 1. AOE Evasion Optimus Prime (Autobot Unite Box Set) 2. ROTF Bludgeon 3. DOTM Powerglide 4. ROTF Dirge 5. DOTM Guzzle - recently updated thanks to Driskull98 Runners Up 6. ROTF Brawn 7. TF: Movie Jazz (Target Exclusive) G1 Deco 8. DOTM Shockwave 9. ROTF Beachcomber 10. AEO Hot Shot (g1 tracks deco) 11. ROTF Hoist - recently updated thanks to LSyd I am looking forward to seeing more g1 inspired figures with the next movie coming out. I would love to get some feedback or maybe there are some figures i haven't thought of. let me know. View attachment 27692156
thanks to the evasion optimus i'm back into collecting transformers. i look forward to seeing more g1 inspired transformers.
Haha no joke, me too. I stopped buying Transformers for years, but one day when i was at Walmart, i noticed Evasion Optimus. I giggled reminiscing about my Transformers in the past, and I live how it had a touch of G1 in it. I bought it, transformed it, loved it, put shelves up in my bedroom, and found this cool site called tfw2005.com where i could catch up on all things Transformers.
DOTM Commander Guzzle is inspired by the LSOTW design. If PCC's count, you can also add Huffer to the list.
Dark of the Moon Cannon Force Ironhide: Takara Age of Extinction Ratchet: Revenge of the Fallen Swerve (Sideswipe):
the design needs to share the g1 theme in figure and vehicle mode, a simple g1 paint job will not cut it. I love seeing the seeker jets in the g1 deco but the bot mode is too week. same with ratchet and ironhide, both vehicle mode and bot mode aren't close enough to the original design to go on the list. Serve is neat and with a little more white in bot mode and a different head it would be on the list. thank you for the feedback! love seeing people interested in what I have to say and want to share there opinions as well.
I am torn about this figure. it is really close an I think I might have to add it. jru42287, i originally had a top five figures with additional runner ups, ones that were close but not close enough to the g1 design. i did go back to that original setup. although i think there is still an agreement to be made about jazz and hot shot(aka tracks), there design in both vehicle and robot are both very close. true they are both missing thinks like shoulder doors(jazz) and wings(tracks) but i think they are both very close. shockwave between the robot mode and space cannon, i think the only thing missing is it isn't hand held.
Why wouldn't G1 colored movie 1 Screamer and Thundercracker work, with the Walmart exclusive Skywap, though? Or Thundercracker DotM Thundercracker and Skywarp?
RotF Bludgeon with a different head is basically the standard bludgeon design now, in most media. I wish he had different feet... he'd fit in perfectly with CHUG.
I certainly see g1 elements in the design, the only issue I see with those figures is the fact that the robot mode design is terrible. The heads strangely shaped, arms are super long and the legs are short and unstable. I think they could have gone more towards the original design like the con air 3rd party seekers. Of course that is my opinion and even this list is opinion based. So you have every right to disagree with me.
So, I guess I'm just curious why you'd even bother making a set out of movie figures? I mean, most people go with the movie figures in G1 paint jobs because they like the melding of the two very different styles together. If you're not choosing certain figures because they're "not G1 enough," wouldn't you be better off just using CHUG molds? That's essentially what a lot of those molds are: G1 aesthetic with an updated vehicle mode.
I wish they did this more. I love the old school vehicle mode meets bayverse robot. They need to do this for all the characters. I would buy every wave.
i am deeply disappointed with the route michael bay has taken the transformers, whether it is the story or the design of the characters. the evasion prime has forced me to take another look at the toyline and find the hidden gems i overlooked or just plainly ignored. i love the combination of the new and old with this figure and i want more. i think the list of characters that i have put together is a good start for a collection, not to big or to small. and it they are going to continue giving us more g1 inspired characters great. anything beyond the 11 figures i have listed will be a welcomed surprise. bring it on hasbro and can't wait to give you more of my money! thank you! glad to see that i am not the only one!
I don't know how much he might count, given he's not a Volkswagen, but the original release of the 2008 Camaro Bumblebee has black robot parts, yellow toes, and yellow panel detailing on his forearms like G1 Bumblebee.
