Featured Ebay Auction - 20 Transformers G1 Store Display Signs
That is hella radness. Store displays kick ass.
Promotional stuff is awesome, rarely allowed for sale from retailers though.
kinda cool, but for that price you can bring the graphic to kinkos and print twice as many
Yeah, I'm not paying 100 dollars for some signs. I don't think so.
While that may be true, the main reason someone might want this is that it's a vintage graphic design collectible originally hailing from the early 80s era when Transformers originally was in stores.
If someone just wanted a decoration, I'd agree with you, provided Kinko's wouldn't have a problem reprinting copyrighted materials without proper authorization.
I have to say that I've found myself seriously weighing the bidding option here
This is more about the nostalgia of owning an 80's store display item. I know some people who collect this kind of stuff relentlessly, and I've wound up owning some of that stuff as a result.
I bought one of these last year. He packs and ships very well. It's a great addition to any display. Throw in it's the same ones we seen as kids and wham total awesomeness!!
Well, all I can say is I bought 50 of these from this guy (very nice guy by the way) at Joecon 2010 and split them with a high ranking Botcon official (who shall remain nameless)...this is probably the last he has of these. They are neat, and double sided. They were definitely aisle hangers because they have a small pinhole at the top center. We went in on them because they were the closest thing we had seen to shelf talkers in a long, long time...definitely got the nostalgia bug.
He also had a ton of G.I. Joe ones, but they were less exciting...from a TF guy's standpoint, that is.
Don't believe me? Here's my half...
Drat on you, Mr. G! As if I needed to be tempted any more! RAARR!
Man I like them but I only want like 1,or maybe 2.
I have one of those. Pretty nice.
Somebody's biting, and the feedback #'s are huge...most likely dealers or big collectors...I was going to jump in on this until it started to go somewhere. Superquad7 you still contemplating?
Also, I will throw it out there, I am thinking of getting rid of some of these (no solid decision yet). As I said in post #8, I have 25 of them, I am thinking of holding on to 4-10 of them. I will have to see, I mainly bought them to go towards my future collection display, etc.
So anyone know who won?
No, it wasn't me; congrats to the winner. If you're getting rid of some, I may so be enticed

Is this guy cool, or just another one of those "hey, this looks great to turn around in my own store for an inflated, Brian's-Toys-overpriced profit!"?
I can't say for sure, as I don't know him, but I would guess the latter.
Yeah, I certainly don't want to be judgmental or presumptuous, but I have to say that the latter was certainly my knee jerk reaction. I hope I'm wrong.
I've actually dealt with James from Toy Heaven before. The store used to be in my area actually, until he moved. Never had a problem with him and used to buy stuff from him all the time.
"High ranking botcon officials"....that made me laugh so hard....
For the signs neat-o
