I'm debating purchasing G1 Sunstorm and have seen two versions. One is the Tomy/Takara version and the other is evidently made by King Toys. Can any of you tell me whether the King Toys version is considered a knock-off? Since king toys is neither Takara nor Hasbro, it is a knockoff. The coloring and the fact his name says SUNSTROM is further indication of this. Still, looks like the quality isn't too bad, and IIRC, your size here is going to be somewhere between a regular G1 version and a WST. Maybe around the same scale as the robot masters, if not a bit smaller?
Go with the Tomy/Takara version because it's in scale with the other G1 Seekers. The Sunstorm from King Toys is a KO and is smaller than the Tomy/Takara version.
It's not a bad figure but it is quite a bit smaller than the original, somewhere between G1 and WST size. I have some pics and reviews of some of the other KingToys KO Seekers on my blog if you wanna check em out. All the KingToys seekers are the same size so it should give you a good idea of the size
Takara/Tomy Encore Sunstorm is currently on sale for $46.75 at BBTS. For that price, why not buy it? I think I paid around $48 last fall for him, just opened him last week and he's wonderful.
