Here's something I've been working on. It's a G1 style Spike Witwicky figure based on the G1 animated Spike using 3 different Indy 4 figures (Mutt, Indy & a Russian Soldier).

The hip joints were reworked so the parts from the different figures would mesh better. The boot tops were modified to better resemble Spike's rubber work boots. The pants, belt and boots were repainted to more closely resemble G1 Spike's clothes. Some detail painting was done to Spike's eyes and hair. Nothing major.

Many more pics to come, including Spike with 8 different accessories and a custom G1 style bubble card with Tech Specs.

    Thanks for taking a look!

I'm not a fan of the movie franchise. But this is a nice fusion I dig.

I have a few of those figures. They're OK, but not as nice as the Hasbro GI Joe, Star Wars and Indy figs. Might make a Sparkplug with them. The hardhats are not removable though. So I made one that is for this figure.

I thought about sculpting the hair to more closely resemble G1 animated Spike's, but decided the removable hardhat based on the existing hair was the better choice.

I guess I could still try to add the bangs. Maybe...

UPDATE 06-23-09: Package Mock Up & Accessories

Here are a few shots of Spike on a mock up of the card. The final images will be printed on higher quality paper and mounted to a custom card.

In these pics, you can also see all of Spike's custom accessories, including hardhat, backpack, journal, tools, display base, ruby crystal from the Mines of Burma and Soundwave tape deck. Most of these items appeared with Spike in the first 3 episodes of the original G1 TF cartoon.

I hope to have this finalized in a few days.

Thanks for taking a look and for any comments you might have.

I think the back of the card would have benefited more from having the 84 painted battle scene that was on the back of the other 84 TFs.

Aside from that, this is a REALLY slick custom! I love to see packages and customs (and packaged customs, I suppose :D ) done this well. Great work :thumb

I guess I could do few more mock ups with variations of art on the back card. I did a few others, but with artwork I did, not G1 box art.

Thanks for your feedback! It helps!

I don't like that you stuck the "as seen on TV" logo in multiple locations on the packaging. I think it marrs the TF package, especially since none of them ever have that logo on them. I love the whole package, though, especially the tons of accessories. It's a shame the base figure's legs are oddly more narrow than the hips!
