I've got an issue with my G1 Star Saber which I've been told is "common", yet a google has provided me with no help :(  So I turn to you, the great unwashed TFW public, for help :lol

Essentially the faceplate on Star Saber doesn't sit properly. I don't have photos as I'm about to go to bed actually, and it only popped into my head to post this now :lol  When his head sits flush on his body, his faceplate won't sit vertically, and tilts up at an angle. Very unbecoming for an Autobot Supreme Commander, isn't it?

I've tried loosening and tightening various screws, but nothing seems to work. Is there something I'm missing?

If it were me, I'd probably try opening his head up and seeing how the mechanism is supposed to align...

I got one that was MISB and it's the same way.
The faceplate 'll stay down a little while but eventually it'll pop-up.

Yeah, indeed. I typed this all last night and forgot I hadn't put a pic on :lol  Here we go:

Mine doesn't even stay down a little while. It just pops up as soon as you try and put it in position.

Yeah, if it were a modern toy I would do. But I'm scared to death of breaking a pristine white Star Saber :lol

Push the helmet more flush with Saber's shoulders. The spring is too strong, looks like. It's pulling the helmet up off the smaller head.

If you push it, it just bounces back off. Thought it might be a spring issue.

In case there's any other theories, here's a photo of the inner workings.

I should say, the workaround I've been using is blu tac :lol  I might have to keep using that then by the looks of things...

you can disassemble the head and gently pull the spring to loosen it.
My old Star Saber had the same problem. The new one doesn't.

Is this the one I sold to you?

If it is I remember there being a way to angle the head pushing it forward and down a little so that he face was almost pinned in to place.

Mine has the same problem. I took the super low-tech route and have a little folded piece of paper wedged between the side of the faceplate and the helmet. XD

It certainly is the same one! Don't think I'll need to upgrade ;)

Tried that but didn't manage to get it. Must be a knack. However...

This worked. Was just a bit too tight. Now it's spot-on. Thanks Macraptron! :thumb

I did the same with a small clear plastic wedge. You could not even see it, also after having it displayed this way for a long time, the spring did expand and it works fine now. Go figure????

I'll have to give this a go with mine. Beats periodically adjusting the screws on the gray piece.
