I have a G1 Sky Lynx that I've been trying to restore. I've gone through 3 separate Sky Lynx's from Ebay lots piecing together complete legs. I've accomplished that but now when I turn on the "walking" electronics the figure walks backwards! It used to walk forward before I started messing with the toy but now it walks backward. I can't figure out what's wrong. The figure's "rolling" function goes forward just fine but the "walking" function is backwards. I don't remember changing the way any of the gears go when I opened up the figure. Has anyone else ever had this problem and figured out how to fix it?
"I'm trying to remember. There were an awful lot of casualties that day. Oh, yeah. We invented polarities!"
I had this issue with mine when I got him a few years ago. I believe the gears were on backwards and just needed to be reversed. Wasn't a wire or battery issue.
I finally got it to work!!! No, everything inside the toy is already soldered in. I can't modify anything having to do with the power/electronics. The issue was, in fact, with the gears. Granted I didn't touch any of the gears internally, I had swapped out the rear legs. What I didn't realize was that although the red disc shaped hips look practically identical on the front and back, they are actually different. I didn't realize this until I saw there were markings on the red discs. "A" + "B" were for the front hips and "C" + "D" were for the back hips. It turned out I had "A" + "B" on both the front and back hips. All in all, I am very surprised at how all the pieces within the figure are unique. Most of the pieces have markings like "1,2,A,B, etc." There was a different mold for every gear inside the freakin' toy! I think I opened up the Sky Lynx figure like +20 times! I was frustrated and was almost ready to break down and buy a new Encore version. Now, if any of the pieces on this highly delicate figure breaks, I am going to call it quits and not bother restoring or replacing it! This is the only G1 "ToyBox" figure I have anyway.
Glad I could help! Shocked I helped actually. I actually didn't fix mine, a friend did I just remembered what he did.
