I saw a G1 Skids reissue on ebay the other day and have absolutely no recollection of ever seeing him in the original cartoon (just finished watching all of the episodes a month ago).
Was Skids even in the cartoon or was he some last minute addition to the G1 toy line?

 

he was in the show, he was once shown on the repair table being repaired by ratchet, he also got in a collision with bluestreak (i think, could have been another autobot) in triple takeover

 

Yup. Quest for Survival and Triple Takeover are the only ones.

Fortunately, it was made up for with the original Marvel Comics. He had a nice Story Arc involving a girl, who also gave him a sponge bath.

Skids got a lot more love in the comic than in the cartoon. The RAAT story, his sponge bath and showdown with Ravage  

 

I'm sure he'd have gotten more love if more people knew what car he was. He was a Honda City, Marvel. A compact car. Not a minivan.

I'd love for a Classics Skids based on the Honda Fit.

 

And then being hounded by those limbo creatures and deciding to try and blow himself up and take them with him. Didn't he join Springer's crew of Survivors after that? Whatever happened to Skids in the end? People who never read the comics really did miss out on some exellent stories for characters which got stiffed in the cartoon.
I'd love to see Skids crop up in any future Classics/Universe line.

 

skids appeared alright but he had pretty small parts in quest for survibal and in triple take over.

 

Skids is totally one of the most underrated G1 charaters...I love the comic arcs he was in and honestly I still love the G1 toy. I REALLY hope there's a universe toy of him coming down the pipeline. I can see it happening with name recognition from RoTF too...though we still haven't seen a Classicverse Jazz, but I mainly blame that on the 'characters in Animated won't be in Universe' bullshit rule.

 

He did indeed join the Survivors; after that, he - along with the rest of 'em - merged with Grimlock's Earth Force. After that (depending on where you "fit" the Earth Force stories in chronology) Grimlock revived him and he was present when the Autobots fought against Unicron in "On The Edge Of Extinction".

Don't recall him in G2...

People also forget that he's supposed to be extremely intelligent.

He was one of the Autobot High Council in the Dreamwave comics, possibly their leader.

He also appeared in the Devils Due TF/GI Joe Crossover with Bludgeon and Cobra La.

The story where he joins the Survivors depicted him with Crosscut's head.
