    Hi Guys (and Girls?)

I was at my local TK-MAXX today and saw the G1 of Skids.

He was in a box with G1 logos and graphics all over it and was released in 2004 and a HASBRO GENERATION 1 limited editon release.............or something like that. Anyways he looked like this...

    180px-G1_Skids_toy.jpg

    ...and was £19.99.

But I left him there

Now my question is (a) should I of picked him up? and, (b) in ROTF Skids and Mudflap are twins, but in the G1 days did Skids have a twin or not?

I'd say it really isn't worth it. I'm not big on G1 figures though.

And in G1 Skids was barely a background character, no twin.

Oh I love my G1 figures and want to buy Jazz, Prime and Starscream if I can get my hands on them!

    Ahem anyways...

Oh so the whole TWIN thing was a Bay idea then was it?

No, it was an Orci and Kurtzman idea.

hang on wait... tk maxx as in the UK store?.... I might have to take a trip their soon then.

As for G1 skids vs ROTF skids apart from the name their nothing alike. G1 Skids was a more generic back ground character but the toy is solid IMO. As for a possible twin the only think thats close is Cross cut the characters had nothing in common but they share a design bar a new head for cross cut

As for the £20 price tag thats really quite close to the retail price for reissues any way so while its a bit high for TKMaxx its normal for regular retail

Saw one at Darlington's TK Maxx on Friday.

Picked one up for £8.50 a fortnight ago at Auto Assembly though. :D

He's well worth it. One of the smallest vehicle modes becomes one of the tallest robots. Proportions are really good. Vehicle has tons of detail. I say get him.

How can you be sure? Since he really didn't appear in the show that much, it might be possible that he's more like ROTF Skids than we think. :dunce

Honestly, judging by RotF, do you really think Bay has any kind of respect for G1 characterization?

No, they were added by Bay. Seriously.

“I purely did it for kids,” the director said. “Young kids love these robots, because it makes it more accessible to them.”

Screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman said they followed Bay’s lead in creating the twins. Still, the characters serve no real purpose in the story, and when the action gets serious, they disappear entirely.

Snap, as you know :D  There were cases and cases of the TRU Skids at AA, they were £12, then a tenner, then £8.50. There's a glut of them been found somewhere.

I like him, he's got rubbish articulation, but has a certain charm, enough to convince me that I probably want the Generations Skids/Screech (which reminds me....).

My personal canon are the Marvel Comics where Skids was featured quite prominently. No resemblance to his ROTF iteration beyond being a TF called Skids.

Yup. I see G1 Skids I think of the Marvel comic version.
Whatever happened to that guy? Been ages since I read the comics. I remember he was going to blow himself up to get rid of creepy monsters from the limbo dimension but after that I'm buggered if I can remember anything else.
After his one short time of happiness getting his chassis soaped by Charlene (I think that was her name) he didn't have much fun after that.

I thought he was lost in limbo, body came back, but mind wasn't there. Apparently I was wrong, he comes back and is seen in issue 279:

The Skids I found at TK Maxx the other day was in full US packaging with a sticker on the bottom of the box indicating it had been imported. This makes me wonder if they only brought in Skids, or his 'Commemorative Series VIII' box-mate, Sideswipe, too.

Commemorative Series Sideswipes were mostly dumped at Kay-Bee toys years ago, after TRU dropped reissues from their shelves. Now we know what happened to Skids, at least.
