I've got a few broken bots I need to fix (Kaen, Sinnertwin, Hook) and and I don't know what I should use. Super glue hasn't held well and I'm afraid if I use model glue it may melt them. Does any one have any suggestions?

It depends on what's broke and the severity.

I find with g1 it's best to find a junker and partswap.

Best thing to use for a G1 Hook is a G2 Hook's legs. That is assuming, and i'm probably right. It is the legs. The chrome will be in better shape and the price will be reasonable.
