For the record the molds for some G1 and BW toys their molds have been lost , or destroyed/damaged beyond use.

the Dinobot and Wheeljack are notable examples of this. These may never see a reissue

other molds are in poor shape from many uses examples include the G1 Combaticons and classic Starscream.

Mind some previously unusable, lost or destroyed molds have been restored or remade , the most famous examples are G1 Jazz most notable his face. and the G1 Constructicons

The Constructicons alone show if the returns seem likely to be there TT will restore/remake molds to sell a product.

wheeljack was also KO'd but only briefly. He was available on eBay from china for about a year, 7-8 years ago. No idea why they still aren't pumping him out.

I have the KO sunstreaker, are there major differences from the original? I've not looked.

Cant say for sure since it comes from memory but I believe the headlights and some colouration are certainly different.

I always assumed those KO's were just good quality fakes. The possibility that they might have come from original molds never crossed my mind.

While we're off topic on Star Wars, my personal favorite Millennium Falcon was the CD-ROM playset.

There was a really good KO of Raiden floating around in the early 2000's. I snatched it up back then when you could get it for around $30.

Did they ever KO the Diaclone variant? Too bad they didn't do it in Action Master Slicer colors. If they went through the trouble to KO the mold, it seems like a waste not to crank out every variant possible.

I never understood one thing with KOs: They go the trouble sometimes to create them in completely idiotic colours (which attracts me but its still an idiotic move to make) and not the popular recolours....

The ones that I really want to see probably would only get reissued by Takara/Tomy. I doubt they would show up in the U.S. stores, like those upcoming Walmart exclusives.

I know some of these are "lost molds"...

    -Dinobots
    -Wheeljack
    -Sunstreaker
    -Mirage
    -Grandslam and Raindance
    -Beastbox and Squawktalk
-Full set of Japanese Dino Cassettes in original colors
    -Dinoking/Monstructor

These all would be cool too, and seem more likely.

    -Kup
    -Blur
    -Cyclonus
    -Scourge
    -Wreck-gar
    -Springer
    -Sandstorm
    -Abominus
    -Computron
    -Defensor
    -Menasor
    -Superion

I'd also love some new high quality reissues of these ones that have already been reissued several times. I tried some of the previous reissues, and the quality could be a lot better I think.

    -Jazz
    -Sideswipe/G2 Sideswipe
    -Hound

I'd like to see Shockwave, Trypticon, and the Stuntacons. I'd also like the carbots from the Autobots. Especially Mirage and the Autobot brothers.

There's no indication that these molds still are available, unfortunately. Kup at least received a reissue recently. The rest are unknown quantites.

They didn't KO the molds, they found the original ones and used them to make new toys. As to why they didn't do any WJ variants, I would assume the mold was either broken or re-lost shortly after they found it. They also haven't done any variants of any of the other G1 toys, no G2 dinobots, no recolors of Sunstreaker or Mirage, so who knows.

So no mold differences? Only coloration?

With no quality control or factory oversight, old factories can mash up the old tooling until it's in pieces unfortunately.

But there are some variants found among those G1 KO's. For instance, there's the Diaclone blue Swoop and the Canadian Slag with white legs and red head. Mirage got the red colored Diaclone treatment. I also think there was a clear Mirage as well.

That would be awesome, if improbable. My fear is that the modified version released for Brave Dagwon may be the only version that's available...and he doesn't work with Star Convoy.

Ugh with all these lost molds, if only there were a way to, I dunno, 3D scan parts to create a wireframe and the create molds from that.

Damn, if only that technology had been around for a few years now...

I'd like to see the triple changers...in the right colours! And Skorponok.

And...I take it we still have no documented, proven response from Hasbro on the 'lost molds'?

Hell, even the old fashioned way of taking apart one figure and reverse engineering the mold. HasTak just doesn't want to spend the money on recreating them
