I dont know if a re - release of G1 is going to work with the MP line out. Maybe Im worng. Maybe with the slowness of new molds for the MP people like me turn their attention to G1 again?

For me, it's going to be the appeal of owning these in official replicated retro packaging. For once, I plan to buy and keep MISB for display.

We don't call you WishfulThinking for nothing!

I'd like to see a lot of those things reissued for the sakes of those who want them. Personally, I could use a new Ironhide. If the Hot Rod actually happens and is successful, maybe that will bode well for getting more down the road. And, hopefully they can keep the prices reasonable.

To be honest, though, I'm personally more interested in updates to the originals than the original molds themselves at this point. And, if I had to have the original mold, I'd rather get a loose vintage figure than a reissue in most cases. Still...it would be neat to see them make a go of this.

I would shit a brick if they rereleased G1 (as a whole line). My guess is someone will release Prime.

I want figures of the supposed destroyed molds (Wheeljack, Dinobots, something else I am forgetting). It should be easy enough for Takara to create new molds given that the KO companies can easily do it (even for their newer MPs)

I would like reissues of later figures if possible (personally I'd buy a Punch/Counterpunch reissue) AND any figures from any line that suffered from Gold Plastic Syndrome be remade with better plastics (lookin at you G2 electro). Also, Vintage Brainstorm figures are not aging well. Their internal arm or leg (can't remember which) ratchets are decaying, even on minty fresh specimens.

You're missing Artfire as an option, which is just a Grapple/Inferno redeco (I can't remember if it was actually rumored at some point or just asked about). Cliffjumper was a keychain reissue, so I'm pretty sure they have that tooling readily available still. Beachcomber and Seaspray (plus Bumper, technically) are the only minibots that haven't been touched since G2.

Megatron can't happen in the US because of toy gun laws; Takara would have to do it. I'm curious if they'd do Galvatron as well, given its "gun mode." Fort Max presumably can't be done in the US either, unless something's changed since RiD/Car Robots.

Whirl isn't listed, but is in the same boat as Jetfire/Roadbuster. Shockwave has a double-whammy (they don't own the mold like Jetfire/Roadbuster/Whirl, and the gun issue looms over it as well).

Beyond that, certain stuff that was reissued (Hound, Frumble in particular come to mind) was written off as lost/damaged/destroyed and unable to be reissued until it was. My other big thing with reissues is, technology's changed since the initial reissue boom of the mid-00s. I tend to think the only thing stopping Takara/Hasbro from reissuing whatever they want is expected sales and willpower (who exactly was predicting Trypticon?). Aside from molds they don't own (the Jetfire/Roadbuster/Whirl/Shockwave bunch), I'll always think anything's possible, but won't predict much beyond Optimus and perhaps the usual big names (Starscream, Soundwave & some cassettes).

If there are reissues that "need" to be done, it's anything affected with GPS/scary fragility that makes hunting originals a risky proposition. Monstructor Six & various other Pretenders, Black Zarak, G2 Aerialbots (thanks to Slingshot), Electro, Breastforce (Killbison), stuff like that.

Yeah, I was just listing the known reissues over the past two decades. I didn't include Artfire because he was never properly reissued but, like you said, the mold is probably available for that. I also didn't include the e-hobby exclusive characters in the list but those are obviously on the table as well, I suppose.

As for the gunbots, again, I'm only listing what's available mold wise. Probably the closest we can get will be Galvatron with packaging modifications that highlight his space canon mode and glosses over the gun mode. Or, Hasbro decides it's space-y enough and just does a straight release as it looks like no gun known to man and falls within the parameters of Classic Megatron.

Unfortunately, a lot can happen between the book style reissues of 2003 and now. Hopefully, Hasbro/Takara has taken care of the molds since then.

I think the problem is how well will they sell? If Hot Rod does avg or doesn't do well, the chances of them doing more are slim. That's my biggest concern. Too many times have companies started lines that I'm interested in, only to make 4-5 figures and stop.

Recent interview indicates there are more in the pipeline. But fans on social media seem to be buzzing on Hot Rod...so I'd say chances are high that it'll sell well. Ditching the Dreamwave book or Platinum packaging for retro-styling seems to be having the desired effect on folks. It probably also helps that the price is right at $30. I'm curious to see how stuff over $50 will fare when we start getting into Optimus, Soundwave, etc.

    My most wanted reissue: Raiden.
Just because the original is so damn expensive and I want to be able to experience the Trainbots in-hand.

Won’t be through Walmart, though. The chances of them putting an obscure (for the US) Japanese exclusive on shelves are minuscule at best.

Considering way back with the commemorative series, the cars were selling around $25-30 at TRU, $30 for this isn't bad. I personally am tired of buying Hot Rods and Primes and would prefer virtually any other character.

The only ones that have a wisp of a chance, IMO, is God Ginrai and maybe Star Convoy because it's another Optimus Prime (and next year is Micromasters in Generations). Might also be a good way to release Metrotitan in the U.S., since he's just a repaint of Metroplex plus a Micromaster and a ramp.

Repaints. Please be more G1 reissue repaints. Like PM Optimus repainted as Ultra Magnus or something. Or the Diaclone version of Ultra Magnus.

There is no way in hell that G1 Megatron will ever get reissued in the west. Hasbro tried.
