after doing the "Best of the Beast Era" poll, I've decided I'm gonna find out what the real favorite series is.

So which tv series do you like more, G1 or Beast Wars?

They're the same (in my book).

G1 for legacy building, Beast Wars for better storytelling (which includes G1's legacy).

    I'd have to say BW.

Granted it was the series that introduced me to Transformers.

I did however go back and read/watch as much G1 as I could get my hands on.

I'll give credit where it is due if not for G1 we would not have 20+ yrs of Transformer lore.

Some could argue/point out Diaclone and I'd be comfortable with that notion.

G1 and Beast Wars are tied for my #1 Transformers series of all time. I can't choose.

Beast Wars. Better toys, better concepts, better story, better characters, better VAing, better (for the time) animation. Better everything. :rock

BTW, I just want to say I still love G1, the comics, the toys, the concepts and even some of the cartoon. But BW is to me, the apex of Transformers, and my G1.

I missed G1. I grew up with Beast Wars. So this means I can look at G1 with eyes unclouded by the time it was released.

G1 is just awful. It has horrible flat characters, plots that are so thinly tied together a stripper would be wearing more clothing (I hope that analogy came out how I intended..), bad animation, and is blatantly a toy commercial. It's a series I will only watch again if I have to.

All that said I highly respect its time. It established the basis of the IP and that groundwork is quite solid and deeply interesting to me. The concepts one could explore and the stories one could tell with such groundwork just get my inner writer all giddy.

Also I don't want to come off as one whom believes Beast Wars was a perfect show. It had its faults. It graphically hasn't aged all that well, and especially early on they were inconsistent with how much damage a bot could take before dying, for some examples. But it's faults are fewer and smaller than G1 to me. I can watch Beast Wars any day of the week and smile (and then cry when I remember it was followed by Machines).

I can look on both series without the nostalgia goggles due to my young age. After having watched both series in full, I can truthfully say that the G1 cartoon does not hold a candle to Beast Wars (or Animated, or Prime, for that matter). I'm not saying it's a bad cartoon (okay, well, several episodes had really bad writing), but Beast Wars was just a better series in terms of writing, characters, and plotting.

Tough choice. G1 was my childhood, and it created my lifelong love for Transformers. I still adore it today despite its many many maaaaany flaws.  Beast Wars has some of the best characterization and storytelling of any TF series, and is still fun to watch all these years later.

I voted for G1, but just barely.

G1, not interested in puny transformers knock offs. G1 also had the superior and more legendary voice actors and the series that most people remember and want to return.

This is a good way to put it. BW has a better ongoing story, better writing and character development. BW was simply a good science fiction show. But without G1, there obviously is no BW, it needed the greatness of G1 to exist. I really can't choose. Overall quality though, it goes to BW, no doubt.

I guess it would come down to an age thing.I was around when G1 was out,and i was to cool for toys when BW was out.Just like MISB G1 items,Us true G1ers(i mean those born in the 80s,not true fan)are a dying breed.I voted G1 on the grounds, that was my transformers.

Which G1 are we talking about here?

If we're talking about the Marvel comics, then G1 wins by leaps and bounds. If we're talking about the Sunbow cartoon, then Beast Wars easily takes the cake.
