I'll join the choir of fan voices decrying the lack of a trailer. Part of the nostalgic jolt for me would be a 1:1 of the original retail release, which if my aging mind recalls correctly included the trailer (the stateside retail release in the 80's). No trailer means I'm only getting the figure, which feels like half measures and not nearly as awesome.

I have the either 20th or the 25 anniversary version complete with trailer that a friend gave me in mint condition with the Transformer sound belt clip!
    I\'ll keep it!!

No trailer is just ridiculous. Who thinks of these things?

Next up Soundwave with zero tapes.

Cool for those that want it, esp with the long smokestacks.

Man, that is pricey though. Still have my NYE edition with the blue windows from 2002.

Definitely getting one (or two) of these! To be honest, I pretty much never display my Optimus Primes with their trailers since they take up so much space, so I'm perfectly fine with just the cab... is that blasphemy??

It'd be fine if I had a G1 optimus already. I don't and even mentioned them doing OP when they were doing that fan voting thing. I think the trailer is a must if you don't have one yet. I guess this is a collector focused release and all. What the hell would they have charged with the trailer? I wouldn't pay more than $50 for that; might as well get a KO at this point.

I am very excited for this. I hope we can order him online starting in January. It gives me hope as to what other G1 exclusives we will be able to get in the future (here's looking at you--> BLUE Bluestreak and Purple Galvatron)!

As an OP completionist, I have to get this. It's been over 30 years since I last saw a G1 style OP in a retail setting in original box art, so need to live the dream I was too young to back then. When they do an OP movie (and they will if Bumblebee makes good money) I would expect to see something more complete to be released then. As OP continues to be the most produced TF in the franchise, it's almost a guarantee.

Going to be hard to justify dropping $50 on this, when there's no Megatron to buy along with it. And while they CAN do Megatron (with an orange tip,) we all know they won't, due to fear of public outcry - and distribution issues (although that would be on Walmart) with the couple places that have more stringent additional requirements ("weird" coloring, etc.)

10 years ago and I would have been all over this, but I am over the original issues of Transformers. They are bricks in disguise. MP is where the game is nowadays.

Interesting... if I didn't already have two Hasbro Commemorative Series, the 15th Anniversary Takara reissue (yes, 15th. I'm sure many remember this release as one of the first G1 reissues ever, back in 1999, including proper smoke stacks), the 25th Anniversary Hasbro edition with Comic and DVD, not to mention a loose G2...

Actually, the only reason I have to buy him is the fact that he distinctly comes without a trailer and matches the new vintage G1s. So... I'll probably get him.

Is this going to be another Walmart exclusive?

If so, as nice as it would be to have a G1 Optimus Prime I'm going to pass. No point in chasing after something that will never see the light of day at retail.

Same boat here. Euro Classics, G2, Encore, 25th comic/DVD. At $50 I might have a shot at finding this.

Except, no one buys G1 originals for their state-of-the-art aesthetics or engineering. It would be like not playing retro games on my vintage NES just because I have a PS4VR. You can have both.
