Wow, G1 Mirage is one ugly customer. Pretty badass how much toys have evolved in 20 years.

    That looks really good.

One thing though, on a lot of those pic’s there’s a lot of yellow surrounding the toy, so it’s not a clean white background, especially the robot mode ones. But if you could get all of your pic’s to look like pictures 6, 9, 10 of what you’ve posted there I think your set.

Funny thing is I just shot Mirage for the galleries a couple of days ago :lol  But yours looks a lot better then the one I was using as it was in not so great shape.

But ya if you can so something about that yellow and get those to a cleaner white background I think your all set, looks like you just have to fiddle with some lighting and camera settings a bit more.

    Good stuff :thumb

ya a bit too much yellow. just do a white balance on the camera, or play with it a bit in PS.

awsome composition and detial shots though.

Looking pretty good! A couple tips that might help though-
more backlighting may help get rid of that yellow shadow effect.
Sharpening (pasted from someone's post a while back)-
go up to filters, then artistic, then Paint Daubs.
just set the brush size to 1
then set the sharpness to desired sharpness. no more then 2 or 3 or will make the images too sharp and grainy.

    Hope those help. :)

paint daubing a larger image at like 2000 pixels wide first with a sharpness of 2, then shrinking the image to 700 pixels wide and paint daubing it once more with a sharpness of 1, makes the images come out very crisp

Here are some pic's from my Mirage shoot for reference of what were looking for in terms of white backgrounds. Like others said I think your white balance is off so if you could play around with that a bit more and maybe use PS or another photo editing program for the levels and color I think your there dude.

Man, G1 Mirage is such a beautiful toy; also the only Diaclone car (IIRC) to be specifically designed size-wise to work with COnvoy's trailer launcher.
I always wanted Mirage as a kid, but never got to own one; now I have the one from the Goodbye Convoy giftset. An expensive way to get a G1 Mirage, yes, but WHAT a way ;)

I adjusted the white balance and stood farther away so the flash wouldn't get so much shadow. I haven't tried the sharpen yet, but it's improving.

My suggestion is dont use the flash, that would probably explain why some of your shot's are turning out that way.

That IS the problem. Thanks! I adjusted the lights (really need to pick up a nice lamp for this) and this pic is no flash, I think it made a huge difference

edited first post robot mode pics. no flash. looks much better now, but I think I need a pro light to get the brightness and clarity a little better.

    thanks for the help, guys!

Mirage was the first Transformers toy I ever got as a young'un. I recently picked up as new-looking a Mirage as I could get at Botcon '06 (since a reissue is looking less likely all the time) but unlike other old toys that were 'replaced' by fresher versions, I kept my original on display - worn paint, glued-down feet and all.

Very nice. I got a G1 Mirage recently, but his waist is stuck, so I can't really transform him. Did you have any such problems with yours? I'm worried I might break him if I force his waist to twist, and the seller said to pull the waist out, then turn.
