Just wondering? If Trypticon has attachments for the Stunticons and Combaticons in city mode for "add on" extensions, does Metroplex with Arielbots or Protectobots? Just wondering if any one knew.

Metroplex has 4 or so ports for combiner limbs. I think that's it.

Yep, Metroplex can hook up to them. In fact, Silverbolt and Hot Spot plug into him *directly* - he doesn't need any extra connector pieces the way Trypticon does, they're actually built into his mold (and yet, it isn't mentioned in his instructions!). He can actually also hook up to Motormaster and Onslaught, too! That's because the combiners and Metroplex were originally designed for an unreleased Diaclone toyline called "Free Combination" where they were all from the same faction and so they all combine together.

Googled up this image illustrating it:

The combination gimmick also carries over to Metroplex's robot mode, with a feature that IS in his instructions - any four limb robots can plug into his shoulders and knees, too, like so:

Thanks! I thought there might be but I had no idea about the other decepticon additions. I didn't even realize he was around with the diaclones. Thanks for the photo that helps a bunch!

They were going to be 1985's Diaclone line, but then Takara were all like "Geez, that whole Transformers thing seems like it's making money hand over fist, doesn't it? The hell with this noise!" and scrapped it in favour of importing TF. :)  I think it was because of that, because they had that greater level of significance to Takara, that they made a bit more of a fanfare about the whole combiner concept than Hasbro did - Hasbro plopped 'em in at the end of season 2, while Takara practically made it a "sub-line" of its own, with a special "Scramble City" logo on the toy boxes, made the concept the focus of the original G1 manga, and of course did the direct-to-video episode, introducing and releasing the toys of Ultra Magnus, Metroplex and Trypticon into that little "after season 2 but before the movie" world that the concept occupied.

This is a great example of how dynamic the 80s stuff were. As wonderful as modern toys are, they are much too uniform.

Very cool. Knew about the ports for robot mode, but hadn't seen the city mode before. Picture was fantastic...

Considering the Headmasters anime put his mobile platform mode into use that the American show never did, I'm surprised they never showed off THIS gimmick.

If only I could afford Metrotitan and Battle Gaia...

    Sigh I miss Scrambled!

THAT was a great site and showed all the Scramble City features off so nicely, including the launcher features for Motormaster, Silverbolt, Onslaught, and the remains of Hotspot's....

Edit- YAY someone finally archived it! I knew someone had been working on finding it a new home, if you want to do some good minutia reading on Scramble Toys, this is the place:

Is there an unofficial way to plug scattershot into metroplexs base mode?
