First things first: I bought from TF Source and no orange cap.

    The toy itself:
I had Megatron in '84. It's dead now, but I have seen old, used Megatrons sitting behind glass in comic book shops in recent years. In other words, I'm familliar with the toy.

That being said, I was NOT familliar with a brand-spanking new Megatron. Opening one MISB in 2007 was more exciting than I care to admit. :D

All-in-all, the toy is so perfect, and the chrome is so shiny that I can't even bring myself to apply stickers to the guy. When I have him in gun mode with the attachments, there's such a cool sense of "I'm holding MEGATRON" that I don't get from the Classics Megs (who I also love BTW). Man, I could blow a hole right through Prowl's chest if I had the chance.... ;)

As for the styling of the gun... Yes, with the plastic and chrome in pristine condition I have no question that a cop would shoot me dead if I took this thing outside....as it should be.

'Bot mode, I know many of you don't like the looks of ol' trigger-crotch. I love him. We'll agree to disagree. One thing's for sure though...this toy has me frothing for the MP release.

I dont have a problem with Megs' bot mode like most people do. It's funkily shaped, but it's hardly the worst TF design. And the gun mode is just so awesome that it redeems anything else. I bought TFC-06 the first time around (late 2002/early 2003) and I felt the same way as you. Opening a brand new, shiny transformable Walther P38 was just awesome. Can't wait to relive that feeling with MP05 :D

I've got a question what's the official way to place his hips/legs, right up next to the trigger or spaced out to the sides?

they seem to have them sort of splayed, near the crotch in the back and spread out in the front. However, I cant get mine to hold that position. So I stick with near the crotch

Hmmm, never owned a G1 Megs (small issue of me not being born when they were around) though I wouldn't mind getting one; however, there's no way I'm spending $60 or more on the Japanese reissue. Funnily enough, my one issue with Megs is not the "trigger crotch", but his face. It just looks kinda odd to me...oh well. Congrats on getting him, anyway. Glad you like him :)

Got mine from TFSource today too. The box was smashed to hell. I was hoping toopen it up and see that Meg's bookstyle box was unaffected...no such luck. Looks like someone stomped on then kicked it up and down the street. At least Megatron himself was okay. Thanks USPS.

It's the first time I've had a G1 Megatron since my parents through all my transformers away all those years ago. Now I have to get a reissue Prime to go with him.

G1 Megatron is an all time classic toy design, in my opinion. I used to have the bookstyle reissue but I sold it (I'm tempted to pick another one up, now they're out again). I am lucky, though; I have a MIB original Megatron and a Microchange MC-13, so they'll do for now. :)

Megs rocks. I have several of him. I have two vintage, one dead mint in the box and one a little more played with and the 1st reissue...d-16s. I love megatron.

Yeah, Megatron is a fine example of why Transformers took off early on. He's awesome. I remember my younger brother had the original back when we were kids. Of course, as time went on and we played with him the joints got loose, and then a shoulder broke, and much of the chrome wore off, leaving him looking pretty battle-worn.

I got the reissue when it first came out, and I have to agree with everyone who talks about how unexpectedly cool it was to just open a brand-new shiny chrome Megatron up, with all his accessories (including some that the US release didn't come with back in the day!).

The pistol looks a lot like the real thing, and it's pretty big with all the attachments added. THIS is a role-play toy done right. :D

The robot's transformation is very clever. Sure, you get the trigger-crotch, but it's not as bad as some like to make out. For the time, his articulation was par for the course, and as long as you keep him in the closed-hips position, he doesn't look too doofy.

I'm not surprised they re-reissued him. G1 Megatron is a great figure.
