from what remember in the cartoon, used to give prime more trouble than any other decepticon apart from megatron.

Without Laserbeak, and to a lesser extenet Ravage and Rumble, the Decepticons were useless in the G1 cartoons. The three primary cassette bots did all of the work. Laserbeak was the only one ballsy enough to screw with Spike and other humans on a regular basis.

LB was one tough Deceptibird on steroids. He also likes his energon booze like all the other Decepticons.

 

He's certainly a consummate professional. And unlike other Decepticons, he never fails Megatron.

 

Laserbeak is a badass. Particularly in the otherwise-terrible episode "A Prime Problem," where he singlehandedly:

-takes out Optimus Prime
-takes out Starscream
-and physically CARRIES Starscream, who is ten times his size, through the air like an owl catching a mouse

He is so ridiculously over-powered in that episode that I can only imagine Laserbeak figures were selling poorly at the time and they wanted to boost sales.

Lazerbeak was quite gangsta in the cartoon, wasn't he. I'm wondering why he had such a prominent role.

 

What kind of bird was he and Buzzsaw supposed to be? One of those giant Condor birds might be able to carry heavy-loads. But if he's supposed to be like a hawk or something smaller, it's questionable.

 

yeah like someone posted earlier the cassettes did kick arse would love to see a 3rd party company do the cybertronian laserbeak, would be cool.

 

LB's talon's could rip through adamantium, he could fly to the outer ends of the earth's atmosphere, his beak never needed sharpening, and his poop was highly concentrated acid that would scorch any Autobot's headplate. You don't mess with LB.

Buzzsaw is listed as a condor on the front of the G1 Soundwave box. I don't remember if they mentioned anything else on the cartoon or in the comics.

 

It's been a long standing joke that Laserbeak pwns. Heck, there's the MST3King of the Movie that had Megatron note after "Unlike my other warriors, you never fail me!" the gag was "In fact, you've never lost. Go kill Optimus Prime. HA HA HA HA HA HA!"

It's also funny since Buzzsaw singlehandedly killed Omega Supreme in the comics. Granted it was a really stupid sequence, but still, he did it.

 

He was definitely one of the most effective in the old cartoon. He always got in and got whatever information he was supposed to.

 

Laserbeak's Japanese name is Condor.
Additionally, Ravage's is Jaguar.

The pair of them were probably named for what they are meant to be.

 

Hey, he even got the actual credit for it from Megatron in Transformers the Movie no less.
