Hi there... I almost sold my last G1.. the reason this was the last because it was my first G1 and loved the standard posability's etc.
but since the love has died and I was no longer afraid to hurt him... so I'm about to give him some well deserved extra's ;)

Funny thing is I bought an extra classics jetfire for this project to actually get started on the legs...
So today I nearly gave up because I couldn't find a way to incorporate the legs without heavy modding which got my thinking....
then it suddenly struck me that armada jetfire might be of some help :D

    the current mods:
-used armada jetfire's upper arms/shoulder then drilled a 5mm hole where the only pin was
-then heated the shoulder the remove the springloaded screwless screw :p  cut/trim the exposed stem and it's a perfect fit
-then came the hard part, trimming down and dremeling into jetfire upperleg/waist panel to get the new waist ball (?) finally fit and have just has enough clearance to move
    -wrist movement (see pics)
-left hand can now hold a 5mm gun

    to do:
    -threat the yellowing
-buy/find an armor and mod it!
    -paint apps

any suggestions and links to other cool mods?

    UPDATE(small):
just added a extra picture this stance screams for a repair bay diorama!

    UPDATE2:
I could find the right size hand.. so I modded the originals so they twist :D
Made some minor mods to fit numerous classics jetfire gun/thruster combo's
(working on a balljointed neck and a partsforming head so he can have 2)

    UPDATE3:
Last 4 picture added... Don't know what more I can do...
I'll try and hunt some armor parts, since I now think he worth it :D
then try to get all the ingredient for unyellowing ;)

    UPDATE4:
Check last PICS all disassembled and ready for de-yellowing, but not much sun...
so I had to ask my GF where the UV lights are stored :D  (might be thrown away already :( )
    UPDATE5:
It's SUNNY :D  ... *doing a happy dance*... prolly not for long :p
And I have found my UV-light, now I only need to find the right socket :(
3 pics added all is in a 3% Hydrogen-peroxide... so now we wait!
(I didn't take of the stickers, just wanted to see what happened If I didn't)

    UPDATE5B:
I've got my ex-Aquarium 7watt UV up and running installed inside an old cabinet with the insides covered in aluminum-foil :D  (no pics yet!) and also found away to utilize the dutch power of the sun, made a mounting bracket for the mirror to connect to a fully adjustable camera tripod ;)

    UPDATE5C:
Well I've learned a lot... 1thing is for sure I needed a lot more HP but in Holland most stores are closed for a extra long weekend and I'm all out.. interested to see were I stand in the process? check the last pic... all the still slight yellow piece are in the sun+mirror phase as we speak, but I do have discoloration on the red and black section, so that means I need to paint those! I'm not worried just a minor setback and I'm learning new things :)

    UPDATE5D:
Well it is much whiter that's for sure (first pic), but pretty heavy fading nothing I can't fix, although should i do this by painting or is there another way?
Stickers aren't always a problem those kinda transparent ones are intact, but the larger leg decal didn't survive :D

    UPDATE6:
It's in one piece again... I still have to decide how to go from here!
Since at this point a full repaint looks like a good option but don't want to..
I'll focus on the faded colors first and then who knows :)

    UPDATE7:
And it's in pieces again :(  since the paint on the metal legs where chipped I kinda pull the trigger and decided to fully paint it :D
So at the moment (no pics) the legs are done, but now the rest is out of place :banghead:  Grrrrr so that means full repaint and might be my first try at panel-lining

It's too bad that he's so terribly yellowed...are you going to re-paint it?

Nice mod man. With some work that would make a sweet classics style version.

Great mods. I love it when people mod chunky monkeys. Got to bring those old Takatokus back to life.

Do you guys think this works or should I really spend lots of cash finding the missing pieces of the real armor? (Already fixed the double head feature + balljoint need to take pics later)

Hmmmm... this is sort of brilliant! It doesn't take too much to make this old toy look great even by modern standards, I must say. Nicely done.
