So I used Photoshop Element 6 to make this but I don't know how to make a cool background, basically I don't know how to do anything in that program. I just got it and I have no idea how to use it. So any help on making cool effects or anything appreciated! and any feedback appreciated :D

Edit: Ok I did a background! lol

Your Jazz turned out very good. :)  Have you done a Google search for "Photoshop Element Tutorial" ? That should give you some things you can try out, while teaching you the program. :)

Thanks :D , and of course google is always good. Alot of those tutorials have me going "huh? wha?" :lol  To make Jazz, my friend actually had to show me physically how to trace over my scanned sketch via her webcam. :dunce

there's something you could do for starters though, see where you've filled in the gaps with the colours, and it's left a little light line around the edges of the outlines.. once you have your lineart traced, you should make a new layer underneath the line one, and do your colouring on that layer instead. have a search on youtube or deviantart for colouring tutorials, tharere's alot of good advice around
