Tell me about it - surely it wouldn't have been hard to make a couple altered parts for him and add a head. The mods are simple when it comes down to it, I'm surprised they didn't do it on a reissue.

Thanks again for the comments, all. I'm not quite done with him yet - I've decided to mod his gun/cannon so he can hold it, and maybe add a couple more cosmetic enhancements.

UPDATE: Did some more work. I fixed his gun so he could hold it, but more importantly I figured out an easy way to extend his legs. Check out his feet, they have a new joint in them that gives him another 1/2 inch or so in height - and no more clown feet!

As a bonus, I put a reprolabels head on the back of his normal head to give him the classic "face behind the windshield" look when the head is folded down. I figured what the hell, why not.

    New pics in first post.

Very nice work. As I said when commenting on another Ironhide custom, if the toy looked like this back in 1984, we all would have been a lot happier kids.

The proportions/overall dimensions are excellent! Kick-Ass Job! :thumbs2:

Why couldn't the original have looked anything like this... *scratches head*

This is great! If it wasn't for the fact that G1 Ironhide is so small, he would easily replace Universe Ironhide after your mods.

I've been getting some PMs asking if I will do this mod for other people - at this time, I have to decline. I'm not ready for that jump yet.

However, if enough people are interested, I can make an in-depth tutorial with pics as I do Ratchet.

LOL, can I take a pic of that and add it to the tutorial?

I'll do the tut - I can't promise when I'll start it though. Maybe tonight.

Hey man, I'm one of those people who'd definitely love a closer look at your work through a tutorial!
Amazing work you did there, I've seen a couple of 'fixed' Ironhides, but your is BY FAR the best. Itching to try and make my own! 'Try' that is...

Wow, this looks fantastic!! I love how he's clearly upgraded but not so much that he loses the G1 look!

Wow, that's awesome. If only the toy had looked like that in the 80s...

And, yes, absolutely post a tutorial.
