Once again, credit to @miiakira2017 for more new concept art. Here you are the images for an early Octane, a pair of... "Car Launchers" and Art of BB, Grimlock, Rumble/Frenzy and Seekers.
Who is thisĀ guy who keeps releasing these? At this point it would be easier to release a book of these.
IN fact, this user shares a lot of material, concept art or promotional material from many old and classic anime.
I posted colored versions of the same Triple Changer (Octane) pics, AND proto toy pics almost 3 years ago. Nobody cared lol. :/
In my defense I was not around as a Newsie 3 years ago. Feel free to share what you have now and we see what we can do.
More from @miiakira2017, this looks like an unproduced classic car that turns into a---- Cowboy-bot???
Are we SURE the cowboy car robot is G1 concept art? All the other pictures really look like they belong in G1. I never questioned their authenticity. But the cowboy robot looks a lot more modern than art that should have been drawn in the early 80s. Look at that tech detail on the inner calves and knees. The unusually good use of perspective. The greebly bits of detail on the gun, thighs, and hat. And (in my opinion), it really doesn't look like it's in the style of G1. Almost all of G1 concept art has the figures in fairly boring poses, and, well, they look like art based on toys made with 80s engineering. The Octane art, for example, really looks like it was based on an 80s toy. If G1 art didn't look slavishly toy-accurate (e.g., the box art of Megatron, Optimus Prime, and Starscream), then it tended to skew toward the other extreme, which means the robot does not look transformable at all. See those thumbnail sketches of Grimlock, Rumble, Starscream, and Bumblebee. Those are cartoony and do not look like transformable models, which actually a lot of G1 art looked like. On the other hand, cowboy-bot is in a very dynamic pose, and it does not look like a toy that would have been made in the 80s. Rather, it looks like it transforms into a robot that makes use of modern engineering, and the model really does give the impression that it's a transformable model. Plus, it looks like it's in the style of E. J. Su. Are we SURE these artworks are all genuine G1 concept art?
That is so cool! I'd love more offbeat designs like this. I hear what you're saying. But most of the detail work looks no more extreme than Gundam (the gun looks very similar to something in that show). If anything, I'd say it could be vintage Machine Robo if it's not Transformers, but I don't doubt the authenticity since I've not come across anything yet that disproves what this guy is posting, and there's guys in the fandom who would be knowledgeable enough to confirm or deny.
I guess he's the C-O-W-B-O-Y (why?), Cuz he's the bot so bad that you can't deny, And when you ask the Cowboy to play, He's Cowboy he'll never run away.
Ok, what would his G1 name be? I'm going with Rodeo ... or maybe Roadeo (but Bob was never quite that bad with the puns).
