I hate to be that guy, but asides from the carry-case those don't really look like they belong in the Transformers line. The city-bot concept looks like it would do better in some other mecha series, where non-humanoid primary modes might be more prevalent.

So neat. I love glimpses like this.

I like the design for "Diaclone Station," complete with lamposts, shrubs, pedestrians and a coffee shop. :D

And look at the detailed interior Optimus was going to have!

I agree they look like they do belong in another mecha series.

But I like them nonetheless. It is always nice to get a sneak peak at the early days of Transformers.

Look damn cool to me, and certainly looks like Transformers. Clearly the original design phase of Metroplex....what's "Un-Transformer" like about Metroplex?

Er, well, they are from another mecha series - Diaclone! :)  This must all be pre-Transformers.

The case / base would have been awesome for playing as a kid in the 80s. Metroplex with the car wash bay cracks me up, actually does look like a city block. Hasbro needs to bring that OP to life, a G1 take on stealth force.

The subway station looks really neat, very futuristic even now, back in the '70s I'm sure it was mind-blowing.

A car wash! Surely that would strike fear into the hearts of evil doers everywhere.

Looks like Metroplex was originally going to be big enough to hold multiple Diaclone cars at once.
Whereas the Metroplex we got could hold a single scramble city car.
Metroplex would have had to have been much bigger.

That Metroplex design is actually really cool from a play-ability stand-point. It would have been cool to see some of that blended with what we actually got. Maybe a double-decker design in the chest, and perhaps more side-access panels.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Metroplex design we had and always will, but there's some really awesome "kids would find a million ways to use that" things in this design that really could have upped the play factor.

The Prime/Convoy I could give or take. I like our real Prime/Convoy better I think.
