It was a few years back.
There was going to be a new set, but I think it got canceled.

Call around at a fer Gamestops, some have the seasons dvd sets on sale/used.

The scrapped Sony set was going to be cool but the Rhino versions still look damn good in the dvd case, and also play well.

The Chinese set (in the tin) would probably be your best option. It has gone up in price on ebay since I got mine, but it's still cheaper than trying to get all of the Rhino dvds.

Better go with the chinese complete 98 episodes set. Rhino did not release all the episodes. However, the chinese set menus I don't understand. So I ripped every DVD on my hard drive without the menu so I jump from one episode to the other.
There are also cool extras on the chinese set.

I had 4 dvds from Rhino (about 25 episodes) . I wanted the complete series but they discontinued it. I had already spend about 20$ for each DVD. I was very pissed. I decided to buy the tin chinese version for about 50$ with the 98 episodes and got rid of the Rhino DVD's (that I sold 50$). I have doubts that Rhino released every 98 episodes but hey, you may know better than me. If they ever did release those, I never found them on ebay or amazon.com except for the ones I already had.

    Ah, I see your problem.

Rhino released five box sets: Season 1, Season 2 part 1, Season 2 part 2, Season 3 part 1, and Season 3 part 2/Season 4.

However, early on, they released each disc of the box sets individually as well. I think they stopped that part way through, so it sounds like you were just buying the individual discs. The individual discs were a huge ripoff, most people bought the box sets. I actually forgot they did that until you brought it up. But in any case, Rhino most definitely completed the entire 98 episode run in the box sets. Here's the old (now out of print) listings for them on Amazon as proof:

Wow I didn't know the Rhino DVDs have gotten so rare. Good thing I got them despite already having the all the episodes on VHS. In 1999 before any re-releases I had a HUGE Transformers craving so I ordered the entire series from a fellow fan who had the original broadcasted episodes from Ohio.

I also gotta say that some of the DVD footage is NOT consistant with the Original Broadcasted recorded episodes on VHS that I got. On the DVDs there are animation errors (Mostly color errors) but on in those exact same scenes on the VHS tapes those errors don't exist. I wonder why?
