Hey all, Was wondering if the G1 Devastator Giftset was relatively more rare than the Superion Giftset? I'm in the market for Devastator, and have been looking around and haven't seen too many, whereas there seems to be quite a few more Superion. So is this just happenstance, or is Devy generally more rare than Superion? Also, I'm aware of the difference between both the KOs and the legit G1s, and still see many more legit Superions available. Lastly, do you think the price will go down with the recent Encore release or stay the same (considering the previous bootleg may have already deflated prices)?
^maybe I read wrongly but wasn't the OP specifically asking for a comparison with the original G1 gift-set viz the fakes/ Encore Version? A complete vintage Takara Devastar could easily fetch over a thousand smackeroos on Evilbay, from what trends I have been seeing lately. As for the drop in value of the original, IMHO due to the spate of fakes which have been released, it has already drastically devalued the original not in terms of price but in terms of exclusivity/ rarity, of course.
Well, the OP asked if the Encore/KO's had an impact on the giftset's price, so I posted the completed auctions list. As for rarity, I dunno.... Hasbro Vs Takara? I NEVER see the Takara version but Hasbro's Devastator seems kinda common to be honest. As for me, I brought the Encore and I'm happy
Ahh, yup no worries, and I'm glad you got your Encore Devs! : Eh, I'll just settle for a loose, minty original.... and yes Takara's Giftset is a b*tch to find..
Takara devastator giftset is easy to find, Im sure mine didnt cost anywhere close to 200 or 250 and that was a year or two before the encore was announced. The indv boxd version tends to be alot more expensive. If your looking for japanese pieces you should learn how to use yahoo japan auctions or you can contact bodhar or blackgears and have them help. Decided to check out yahoo japan and the first page had a devastator giftset lol, not complete and in terrible shape but kinda funny it was on the first page yahoo japan auction id: v225477188
