Ok I don't to be so called annoying with my threads. But I always wondered why weren't there any Female Decepticon in G1? We had the Fembots in Season 2 and Arcee in Season 3 and 4.

    Thanks

Because Decepticons were the bad guys, and there's always that idea that female robot characters wouldn't sell well. It's a double whammy. The only reason Arcee is even in TFTM is because they needed a Leia stand-in (note the hair buns).

Notice how none of them ever got toys, and it took 27 years to get an official Arcee that actually turned into a damn car.

Because cartoons have always contained gender bias, especially so in the 80's and female decepticons would not have fit into any of the 4 main stereotypes for female characters:

Mother/nurturer (eg, mothers, guardians, queen to the king etc).
Object of lust for the male character (ie the princess for the prince or the girl the male protagonist has a crush on)
The feminine evil (eg step-mother, witch, ogress etc)
The passive, beautiful damsel in distress (aka Snow White, Rapunzel, et al).

The female autobots worked because Elita-one was Optimus' love interest and the other fembots were her "maidens" and Arcee was the "nurturer".

Female decepticons just wouldn't fit into any of those......

Was just about to say that. Despite being human-built, she was upgraded significantly with Decepticon tech, that I think it's fair to call her a Decepticon.

I fail to see why feminine evil wouldn't fit, they'd just be like normal Decepticons, but female.

Not much of a problem now, but the 80's weren't so enlighten in that viewpoint. Hooray for progress.

Well if you go by the cartoon/Quintesson-based origins, a lack of feminine Decepticons could be written off as "what was expected from fighting machines" versus "what was expected from worker/servant robots".

    Anyone remember Crasher the go-bot.

The go-bot charecter we all wish Transformers had in the 80's.

Crasher was the best thing about that show, and good enough to get her own Transformer toy as Fracture.

I personally find it fascinating what makes a character villainous, also add extra gender politics which making a transformer female inevitably does makes the portrayal of female cons very interesting for me. I have noticed in the fiction recently with face remover-prime and freedom-fighter megatron that the line between hero and villain is getting more blurred as the fiction matures so Its really interesting and original writing that the creators of transformers prime to make the most remorseless and least ambiguous villain a female villain

And if you go by the Marvel comics, all Cybertronians are gender-neutral and percieved as male.

In the UK, Arcee didn't exist until sometime in the future after TFs were known to humanity. Feminists were pissed that all the Autobots were "male", so Optimus had Arcee created to shut them up(and they still weren't happy).

Because there weren't any toys of them to sell, so there was more point in using the available time to promote "bad guys" with toys, since they needed the help to sell better. Bad Guy toys are at a disadvantage in terms of sales compared to "good guy" figures.
