i was thinking how all the autobots except bumblebee, optimus, arcee, and chromia dont have there g1 colors. would you change that or leave them
how they were? or would you change some but not all? give me your thoughts.

I think all the Autobots are fine, and Optimus does have his G1 colors, but the some cons need their G1 colors. I can live with Starscream's tattoos, but Megatron needs some red. Soundwave actually looks pretty nice in silver, but I'd like if he had some more color period.

this, and um i would like sideswipe to have his g1 colors, just because my favorite color is red, but i like the silver, andi really wish shockwave was a deep purple, but other than that i really like all the colors

I liked the colors they used on the characters in the movies. And Ive always liked color changes of characters throughout different continuities, it makes things fun and different. Like Sideswipe for example, he was red in G1, blue/grey in Armada, and silver in the Movieverse. I enjoy color changes, lets you look at a character differently. :D

I think a lot of G1 colors would be too gaudy. Constructicons in bright green and purple? Eww...

Not to mention most of the Autobot cast would be red and white. That's a pretty dull set of colors there.

I don't really have a problem with most of the color changes. I could have it either way - the one real exception being Ironhide. Black suits him much better than red.

My preference is always going to be G1. Jazz and Starscream are the ones who needed those G1 color schemes the most...

There are reasons why Bay had to modify some colors, he states so in dvd2 of the first film:

For Optimus, he had to reduce the amount of red, because this color is troublesome to photograph and integrate into a CGI generated character. To avoid straying from the canon and not getting killed by the geeks xD, Bay decided to add the flames design to Optimus as a way to add red to his body and preserve the original color scheme as much as possible.

Same thing for Ironhide, as he was totally red in G1, Bay wanted to make him that way too, but they faced the same problem with Optimus and even more with Ironhide as he has even more red than Optimus in G1, so it was decided to make him black instead. I guess it was a wise decision in Ironhide's case, as I like his color scheme in the movies.

So there is an explanation to some of the modifications.

Lesse, if the Autobots kept their colors from G1...

    Optimus: Red/Blue
    Ironhide: Red
    Ratchet: White/Red
    Jazz: White
    Bumblebee: Yellow
    Sideswipe: Red
    Arcee: Pink
    Skids: Blue
    Wheeljack: White
    Mirage: Blue/White
    Roadbuster: Green/Brown
    Topspin: Blue/Gray
    Leadfoot: Yellow
    Sentinel: Blue/Orange
    Wheelie: Orange
    Mudflap/Jolt: NA

That's an awful lot of red, white, and blue...

The one I really don't like is the hideous green/yellow for Ratchet in the first two movies. DOTM colours I could stand....even if there was too much green.

It's not bad for the Autobots, atleast you can tell them apart.

It's the Decepticons that have this problem. Starscream could have been some red on their. Hell Decepticons of different colours not so hard is it?

Some movie colors work better because of the G1 ones being too obviously cartoony (Starscream, Constructicons) but I think you could homage colors better on some like Ironhide and Ratchet, in fact, the new red Ironhide toy doesn't look half bad,
