How did BW Megatron end up on the Nemesis(which was underwater) when in MTMTE G1 Megs built a new Nemesis that ended up crashing into the ocean?

When the Nemesis came to Earth, the show never showed where it crash landed, we just seen the Ark crash. The ship Megatron builds in G1, his "space cruiser" is the Decepticons base of operations.

In the Beast Wars, Tarantulas finds the Nemesis under water. The show's homage to Megatron's "space cruiser". Clearing up what happened to the Nemesis when it came to Earth. Once BW-Megatron activates it, it crashes again in an unknown location for G1-Megatron to find it again in the episode "Microbots".

I haven't watched MTMTE in a long time, but IIRC the Decepticons don't use the original Nemesis at all as it crashed at the end of Beast Wars, thus removing it as a plot device.

    I could be wrong though.

From what we know the Nemesis crashed on Earth like the Ark. As for its crew the would-be Insecticons ditched it using escape pods.

As said in Microbots the Nemesis' remains specifically its star drive was intact along with what powered it. The Heart of Cybertron.

In Nemesis part 1 it turns out the Nemesis crashed in the ocean. The reason it turns out why Tarantulas was much absent in season two was he was fixing it. Probably to finish of both the Autobots and Decepticons inside the Ark. It is implied that Tarantulas and the Tripredacus council did not descend from the Ark's Decepticons.

    Not the same ship.

The Nemesis was what the Decepticons used to chase the Autobots in the Ark through space, when they boarded the Autobots, and when the two ships (still attached) started falling to Earth, Nemesis went and crashed in the ocean. Then during the Beast Wars, Megatron (BW) used it, but it was brought down by Rhinox and sent falling into the distance.

Much later in the G1 episode "Microbots" humans uncovered it on land.

The ship Megatron (G1) built was not the Nemesis, but an entirely new ship built from earth materials that crashed into the ocean.

Not really implied as much as actually stated by Tarantulas himself.

I wonder what the G1 Insecticons were off doing during Beast Wars?

    Eating.

    Insectinom nom nom. :)

And if anyone cares, the fate of the Nemesis in the Marvel comics was different. It was left in orbit when the Decepticons attacked the Ark and caused it to crash on Earth four million years ago and stayed hidden (cloaked?) in orbit until Galvatron's 'Unicron Killer' cannon destroyed it during a test fire in Target: 2006. The cannon was meant to end up hidden under Autobot City and kill two birds with one stone by destroying the city and killing Unicron with one blast, thus freeing Galvatron from his servitude.

As nice as that is I think the Beast Wars version fits better.

Me too. I remember re-reading 2006 when Titan collected the stories and thought: "Thats not right! Thats not how it happened in Beast Wars!" :)

I was going to point out the irony that Simon Furman wrote the BW episode "Nemesis" and Target 2006, only to be thrown off in realizing that Furman only wrote Part 2 of "Nemesis". Oh well, it would've been perfectly ironic.

It would have been a nice plot device to have left more Decepticons manning the Nemesis while the others boarded the Ark. In a real situation like this it would be doubtful the captain, after connecting to the Ark, would leave only 3 crew on board his own ship while he attacked the others. It would have been a neat way to introduce the Season 2 cons as well.

    Oh well.....

Hmmm, the G1 cartoon and well thought out writing have never really gone hand in hand.
