I was doing a search on G1 background music by composer Robert J. Walsh and I happened upon the site for the company he works with: ScreenMusic International. The company provides music for tv shows, movies, commercials, etc. and has been doing so for over 20 years according to the site's homepage. The address is "http://screenmusic.com/index.htm". I clicked on the "What's new?" section and lo and behold was a "be on the lookout " blurb for vintage animation soundtrack releases of GI Joe, Transformers, Inhumanoids, My Little Pony(ugh!) and others by said composer this summer from ScreenMusic Records.
There is no date to this annoucement, so I don't know how current or valid this is. I've heard about the legal hang ups with getting the TF music published for release as well. But if it's true, then it's a dream come true for me and I'm sure others that the G1 bgm will finally be available!

Hmmm.....that site, to me, looks and feels highly outdated. Also, just looking at the "What's New" page, I can tell that nothing is really new there. I mean, it says we should be on the look-out for Walsh's score for a movie released to video (not DVD, of course) in 1999. Also, if you try to use Stan Lee's link, it's dead. I have a feeling that the CD in question never made it out or it's out there already...somewhere...taunting us....

Seems you may be right Trifomis. In my haze of excitement I did not scrutinize what I was looking at more carefully. Still hoping though.

He has been saying thru emails and on site for about 4 years that something is in the works with TF stuff. Until something gets released by hasbro in a statement or a product listing comes out, Id say dont hold your breath.

It's confirmed, meanwhile. Mr. Walsh told me that because of the "Disney bought Marvel" situation, they are making deals again. But it will be ready.

Oh. My. God. Yes. I would give my left nut for a G1 OST.

    At last.....
I mean it would be better then working with some of the TFcog tracks due to them having the sound effects in them.

The TFCog tracks are excellent considering what they had to work with.

But a real release would be much more preferable of course.

I'd love a G1 OST. I'm just glad Takara never had any problems getting CDs out.

One thing I found amusing about G1, is their soundtrack. Everytime they wanted some funky beat rock'n'roll song, seems like they played the same one every time up to end of Season Two. Doesn't matter if it's Jazz or Blaster playing the tunes, to me it sounded like the same song every time.

Yeah, this is true. But they're not at a good enough quality what with sound effects, static, jump cuts and an overall more muted and mono sound quality. The best quality rips they've done were from the special features on the Rhino DVDs, which were about CD quality. There was some instrumentation there that I couldn't even hear on the show's mono soundtrack. High quality recordings of these songs are definitely out there.
