He'd be great if he didn't have stumpy arms.

Best of all G1 triple changers IMO.
    2 excellent Vehicle modes.
Short arms in bot mode though

The arms never really bothered me as much as his "feet" sticking up on his shuttle mode. It kinda kills the sleekness. But I still do love him, probably my favorite triple changer too.

He's an awesome figure!!! Are you getting the White re-issue or an original colored one?
Mines an original, but I want a white one also. Stumpy arms aside, a very cool, well designed figure with a BFG.

He's pretty cool aside for the aforementioned stumpy arms for his oddly-oversized gun. He does stand a lot better than Blitzwing.

My younger brother ended up with Blitzwing; I got Astrotrain. I preferred Blitzwing but Astrotrain's pretty cool too.

Unless you transform him enough times that his legs don't want to stay extended. But you could always peg the feet together. (Of course, then he looks a bit bowlegged.)

Also, the side panels of the train eventually will decide that they don't want to hold up his weight in train mode too well.

But even with these problems, the stubby arms, and the elephant gun, I still think the G1 version is better than the Classics version. :)

He's an original G1. The answer of his "coolness" is obvious -

YES HE IS, and what a great purchase, you won't regret it!

I spent so much time as a kid trying to get his arms to extend, they sure looked like they could.

I ordered the exclusive black and white one, I loved the diecast was all dinged and the paint was chipped, I got frustrated and sent the thing back.

But he was a very neat toy.
