We know for fact that they fucked up G1 with tons of animation errors. Most of them, probably not noticeable at first, some disgusting (Soundwave with an Autobot symble). Something that always bothered me was seeing the same character in the same frame, or seeing them die and reappear later. Well, we all know it was errors, but I think I know an excuse. Just like in the movie continuum, you see multiple Constructicons with exact counterparts. Well, that's been addressed, they're "drones".

So could we assume that when the Transformers arrived on Earth, when it came time to take an Earth form, different bots scanned the same vehicle accidentally? If two bots scan the same black and white police vehicle, and look the same, yet are two different bots, can that make sense? It would help support things like Bumblebee and Cliffjumper, or Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, they scanned the same vehicles but with different colors. Others might not have been as successful and scanned the same one. Am I getting the point across?

I've thought about that after recently watching the first 3 parter of G1 season 1.
You see a lot of extra seekers for example, so what you're saying could be an excuse, but really they are just errors. Who knew legions of adults would rewatch these and pick them apart, lol! I'm sure it wasn't in the budget to fix them and didn't matter in the overall scheme of things, we still watch and love the cartoons anyway.

the seekers were the worst they would switch colors and change charter multiple times in each episode
for Ex-it would be starscream & skywarp but 1 scene thrust would be there another thundercrtacker etc

Not to mention the excessive numbers of Reflector bots and Rumble/Frenzy-style cassettes they sometimes showed.

I've always found animation mistakes to be quiet humorous.

Animation errors are not errors but rather the manifestations of the "timestorm paradox" during the Beast Wars. ;)

Except BB and CJ are not the same vehicle and neither are Sunstreaker and Sideswipe.

    Because we can't.

The theory that there's multiple drones of these key characters that were never established is broken. Even in the movie we blatantly saw multiples of the same generic no-name running around as the army. It wasn't outright told but quite obvious from what was happening on screen. (helped that we saw protoforms, established to be all pretty identicle mixed in with the generic Earth-mode guys)

In G1 it's not obvious and actually contradicts much of the series.

The thing is, it's so much easier to just accept them for what they are, technical flubs in a children's TV show.
