And here is the link on Walmart.com that's referenced in the news story:

I hope that cover is a temp. The art is ok, I guess. But the way too colorful sky and the horrendous logo treatment need to go ASAP.

    Sweet!
I have them in Region 2 but I'd love to get a region 1 set to play on my PS3.

I already have the Rhino versions, but I might pick these up anyways, if the transfer and presentation is going to be better than on those.

That cover there seems to be using the stock G1 art by Don Figueroa.

Pass. I still have the Rhino releases and don't see any reason to trade them in. Besides, the art of Prime and Megatron on the cover is backwards. That's sloppy work from whoever is releasing this.

I'd only get these if they had some really nice extras, as I already have the episodes on DVD.

WTB GI Joe re-released on DVD.

If these have the original audio track I'll definatly get it. Beyond season one though, count me out. That is unless they start releaseing Blu Ray editions.

HOly crap finally.... good god I've been bitching about a lack of G1 DVD's forever...Especially lately since we are in the midst of the 25th anniversary.

I hope they put out the entire series eventually. I'd love having each season in a sweet boxset, although this artwork needs to be cleaned up a bit. It's nice, but needs some tweaking (gun on wrong arm etc..)

Wow this is surpriseing. I mean granted:
Hasbro got back the rights to produce these in united states anyway some time last year plus its the 25th anniversary and we hav'ent heard of them doing much with that angle on the franchise other than universe.

I have the tin with the chinese subtitles. I'll probably buy these though as well for four reasons:

    1. It is much more convenient then opening the tin and jacket.
    2. The tin and jacket fails to fit on my dvd shelf.
    3. turning off chinese subtitles can be a bother.
    4. It probably will make for a nice presentation by my cybertron and animated dvds.

It's just stock art Hasbro provides for licensing (you can see similar Don art for Hot Topic t-shirts), and the cover design itself is possibly just a placeholder temp thing. Somebody probably just mirrored Meg's image file before slapping it on the background.
