Wonder what else they'll change.
I know and if they use that script that was floating around the net where Cobra Commader is Duke's brother, I'de rather watch the animated movie for 24 hours straight.
Ha Ha Leave it to Faux News to turn this into an Anti-America story. Still lame, but funny nevertheless.
The source of the article and accompanying slant is absolutely hilarious.
There is no way for me to discuss my thoughts of the change (I don't mind) without getting political, so I'll sit back and watch this thread implode.
As for the flick I'll wait & see. TF succeeded despite the changes, this might too.
That would be awesome. Just wake up for the opening credits every hour and a half or so.
Can the world oppose
Also -1 to that article for giving in to the spit/slap-in-the-face meme.
Anyone else getting a sense of de ja vue?
Not to big of a deal, They just made it less american.
If I remember correctly this type of thing was part of the DIC cartoon seires.
I am not exaggerating when I say that Joe fans are generally pissier and more impossible to please then TF fans. They throw a fit every time Hasbro releases a new Snake Eyes or Duke Now its their turn for 'Sommers iz rapin' mah childhood'... Add the super hardline conservative right-wing element and you get "zomg Sommers and Paramount hate me and by extension hate America!!
I hope Colbert picks up on this.
I makes sense to me - they can fit all kinds of different international characters onto one team without them all having to be strictly American.
Then again, I was never a big G.I. Joe fan, but I can understand how that would piss off the fans.
It would be like TFs came from all over the universe instead of just Cybertron.
And that cartoon series was afwul with a capital a.
Say isn't that from the script that got tossed out before they changed writers?
Here we go. Fanboys yelling about people raping their childhoods again in 3...2...
At least with the Transformers movie they were still Transformers. GIjoe was/is the Real American Hero. This is just dumb.
Hey, back in the 80's if you bought GI Joe in Canada all the stickers said Canadian Forces, not U.S. Army.
Some of us a glad to hear this isn't going to just be more Yankee flag-waving.
Doesn't seem like such a big deal to me. Well, least not the global task force aspect of it.
I dread to see what Cobra gets turned into. They'll probably no longer be a ruthless terrorist orgazination trying to rule the world. They'll be a band of jewel thieves or some crap.
If in the movie they say that GI JOE started in America, and has now expanded to be global, I think it would be ok.
"G.I. Joe, the real global task force heroes!
G.I.Joe is thairerrrrrrerr..."
It doesn't have the same ring to it.
What's GI Joe without the jingoism?
Separate names with a comma.
