What are the chances of it? ; I mean with G1 being rebroadcasted again maybe Hasbro will do a Commemorative Series IV. I wish they re-released all the Dinobots in one big nice package; I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
What do u think guys? Am I crazy? Or does this idea have some merit?
    Thanks for the replies

I believe Hasbro will still release G1 reissues but in lower frequencies and I'm not holding my breath for moulds that are supposingly lost or spoilt. Example, G1 Mirage, G1 Sunstreaker and the...Dinobots.

the problem with the TF G-1 reissues toy line in america is as follows:

    (1) Hardly any stores in america wanted to carry them. They didn't sell that great at TRU stores in America.

    (2) Hasbro can't insult Takara by selling the reissues for 50+% less than takara sells them in Japan. Hasbro can't sell them for 50+% less than takara because then that will kill the reissue selling market in Japan.

    (3) the majority of the people buying the hasbro TF G-1 Reissues will be collectors/fans. as everyone knows we barely make up 10% of the TF toy buying market in america.

Are they insulted when Hasbro releases mps at a lower cost?

Why would they be insulted if Hasbro decides to do a small reissue series while Takara does not have a current reissue series?

Remember, part of the reason the line tanked at TRU initially was ludicrous price point (subsequently revised) and some initial character choices.

Managed well, it could do OK (obviously collector-targetted), but to be honest, living in the UK, I'm just as happy getting my reissues from Takara.

You're right on (1) and (3), but I'm not sure on (2). The reason the last major US reissue series was so expensive was because that's what TRU decided to sell them at. I don't think Takara had anything to do with it. Besides which, as Takara-Tomy reissues are unaltered, while Hasbro reissues need to be adjusted for safety reasons, people will still buy import reissues instead for the sake of an "accurate to the original" release.

Really, that logic flows both ways, and is probably another reason why US reissues did not work. People went Takara instead, I remember the threads, because they wanted original missiles and chrome.

That's without getting into the fact that Japan and the US are totally different markets and how much impact one has on the other, etc, etc. Even though it's not completely unfounded since Takara-Tomy did alter their Henkei and Animated releases to be different from the US ones specifically because of imported US toys.

At this point, I think we have seen everything that will be reissued by Hasbro. If they decide to do anymore, it will be figures we have already seen like Prime, Soundwave, Jazz etc.

It has been I think 8-9 years since Hasbro did their first run of reissues. If they were going to do heavy hitters like Grimlock, Devastator, and Shockwave, either they or Takara would have by now, especially with Devy in ROTF and Shockwave in DOTM.

Someone here can correct me if I am wrong, but I think Shockwave is off the table for a Hasbro or Takara/Tomy re-release since the mold is not owned by either company but was only licensed for use back in the 80's similar to the Jetfire mold.

The mould originated with ToyCo, but I can't find out what's become of the company since - it would be quite convenient if they'd been acquired by TakaraTomy in the same way Toybox were, as that gave TT access to the Sky Lynx & Omega Supreme moulds.

Basically I just go with the thought of if a mold hasn't been released since G2 ended the mold is lost/destroyed/unuseable etc. If the dinobot molds were available I can not see a reason why at least Grimlock would not have been released by Hasbro in the Commemerative series about 7 or 8 years ago...and crap has it been that long?

I would love some more Microman/ Diaclone molds, reissued as Transformers.
