Just stumbled upon this: I know there's a Youtube thread, but this is too big for that. How does a show get away with that? Like, for all I know it was canceled but I mean...how inappropriate. Sure it's audience will not get the jokes, but I still find it kind of sick that they would do that in a show for young one's. I lol'd hard but man....not cool.
Heh, didn;t need to see it to know what it was. Rainbow was an incredibly popular british series. This however was never broadcast. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_(TV_series) Scroll down and read about why it was made. Hilarious stuff though...
We need to join together and ban this filth! This filth that was never shown to children and was cancelled twenty years ago. You want to see innuendo that actually WAS shown to children? Look up Rocko's Modern Life. For extra fun, take a drink every time they make a joke about sex, drugs or religion.
Did I say ban it from the airwaves? You're acting like I'm some pissed off soccer mom who protects their children from watching shows like The Simpsons.
If memory serves I think it was recorded and broadcast as part of a telethon-type-thing, as a joke section. Who cares anyway, it's hilarious, kids never saw it. There's worse things than Bungle and Zippy playing with each others twangers anyway. edit: also, as a curious side point, this show was incredibly interbred. The three musicians (Rod, Jane and Freddy) all ended up marrying each other at some point. Well, Jane married Rod, then had an affair with Freddy, divorced Rod and married Freddy. As far as i know, Freddy and Rod kept their hands off each other, but it was the 70s and who knows what went on...
I used to love Rainbow when I was a kid. But it wasn't as good as The Moomins. I fucking LOVED that show. (I'm talking about the original fuzzy-felt animated show narrated by Richard Murdoch, not the piss-poor cartoon version that came later)
god I'd forgotten about the original Moomins. Good call, sir! Although I have to say my all-time favourite kids programmes were Danger Mouse and Bananaman
Loved Rainbow when I was small, althougth the early 90s revamp was beyond lame. Round the Bend was the best puppet kids show thougth, so awesome that ITV had to axe it to get the moral standards fascists off thier backs.
I was talking about Round The Bend in work the other day, nobody remembered it apart from me Pantsformers. and Thunderpants. And various other skits involving underwear / farting
