Browsing over at youtube I ran across the original transformers NES game with ultra magnus (who can transform) I have only ever seen the box so the video was a lot of fun to watch. Doing a search on the board didn't return any topics so hopefully this is new to you guys. Enjoy

I tried this when I had a NES emu on my PSP. Couldn't do shit with it. The Super Mario Bros 2 hack I had that turned it into a TF game was way better. :D

You know, I have never seen the later stages of that game. So Trypticon was the final boss? Too bad his AI was the same as every other boss - float up, float down, shoot!

    Okay, so Ultra Magnus...

    -Shoots Starscream like 239482390234978235 times.
    -Sees Blitzwing a lot
-Avoids Ratbat (I think?) a few times
-Collects Canadian flags, as that is the source of the Autobots' power
-Sees bugs that vaguely resemble...well, fuck, they're Nintendo game bug enemies
-Runs through the lost levels of Contra (or Megaman?)
-Destroys...defensor? Menasor? Too hard to tell.
    -Destroys...God Neptune?
    -Destroys...the Nemesis!? WTF?
    -Shoots Decepticon symbols?
-Sees a neat little gold plaque of Megatron, very suave
-Destroys a Megatron about 5 times his own size!?
    -Destroys poor Trypticon

    ...BEST GAME EVAR

I've played this before. SO DAMN HARD. I usually can't get past the first 3 or 4 jets at the beginning. It is not as easy as this video makes it look, believe me. The enemies are so much faster than you are in this game, it's nuts. This is at least useful for teaching that the way to get through is build up a head of steam and run through the levels ignoring everything. Now if only I could get up to that head of steam before Starscream destroys me. Argh.

It sure looks to me like he was cheating. As I recall, many NES emulators came with a game genii built in. I had that game on an old PC, and it was darn tough.

I think I may have had an actual question mark over my head on some of those bosses. Nemesis? Abominus? Giant Megatron? Oookay. 5 hits and they're dead... Riiight.

Yeah, a lot of the trainers/walkthroughs that get recorded that way are either video-edited together or beaten with a ROM hack. There's the possibility that the original guy who did this run-through might have made Magnus invincible or something like that.

It's no big deal, though - these have been popping up for a while, usually edited in some fashion to look like they were completed in blinding speed. The Mario 3 one that's floating around is amazing.

Tool-assisted speed runs are not only common, but are accepted as their own thing. They use slow motion and instant saves to play through the games, not Game Genie codes or invincibility, to record their actions, and then have the emulator play through what they did at full speed. Some consider it a form of art. It shows what an improbably good player could do under the normal rules of the game. Most people who make them will state up-front that they used tools to accomplish their videos. Sadly, when those videos get redistributed by someone else, those details are usually omitted.

Erg, I have this game on an emulator and it's practically so hard it's unplayable. This person was either insanely playing it over and over again, or like others have said, using software hacks to help him through.
