I do not have a screencap (if someone could get one that'd be great) of his full body in the "out of the past" ad.
Pause at around 10 seconds and you get a full body shot (poor quality) of shockwave
Transformers Prime "Out of the Past" TV Spot - YouTube
does he look movie-esk in his very beefy gun and body?

I think it's his cannon and chunky look. The wings on his back make him look like his WFC version with a big gun to me.

Hmm. He looks like he could be a mixture of both the movie and Fall of Cybertron version. He's got the chunkiness of the film character, but the wings, chest and head of the game version.

    Thanks.

It seems that they're following the ongoing principle of merging influences for the characters. In this case TFP Shockwave appears to be a blend of G1/FOC and Movieverse.

This isn't uncommon, TFP Ironhide's design (and toy) was the same blend, whereas Magnus appears to be G1 and Animated.

I wanted him to look like the Bay's Movie version.
    Thanks for the video.

Really? The movie version is just too different to be in prime.

Glad theres a movie influence on Shocky's design. Tf3 Shockwave might have been a hollow character but the design made it better.

He's a mix of G1 and movie honestly. There's the WFC wings, sure, but the rest is pretty much movie with G1's torso.

    Basically.

I'm so glad he's not a skinny fuck. I was worried since the "cool" thing to do is make brainiacs skinny unless they're Megatron. Though frankly I'm so drained from this "like the movie's style but less complex and realistically styled" look between Prime and FOC I'm just getting to the point where I'm almost missing traditional blocky builds. Y'know, back when characters actually looked like they could turn into something.

Not really. There are certain design elements from the movies that have made it into Prime. If you look at Optimus and Bumblebee, for example, they look very similar to their movie counterparts. They could've done a movie version while stripping it down a little for the Prime aesthetic.

Its clearly a mix between DOTM and FOC/G1. And honestly, I love the beasty DOTM look of Shockwave more than the skinny look of FOC, so I really like this.

Makes me sad Cliff's voice actor is different, but it is to be expected.

he looks just big and threatning which I love. if he was his FoC he wouldn't look like he could do much since he is so skinny and short. but this shockwave isn't as tall but just as bulky

    This.

I see movie influences in the sense that he's beefy and that his cannon-hose is a massive python compared to previous "thin-wire"-versions.

Agreed. Replace the DotM ribcage with two halves of a tank turret angled together, the mandibles with a more traditional hollow face and you've got yourself a TFP Shockwave. He's got the spiky kneepads (and overall spiky appearance), the more 'organic' look to him, etc..

I just don't really care for his chest design here. I might change my mind once I see better images, but I'm just not feeling the chest.

Same here, no Shockwave is truly Shockwave unless his chest is purple.
