This is a rumor that people are apparently confirming to be true.

If you plan on buying a PS3 or Wii from Fry's, then you're in for a real shock. You will be required to buy 8 games when you buy PS3 and 5 games if you buy a Wii. This is going to be unadvertised and people will not know until they try to purchase the systems.

    http://kotaku.com/gaming/ps3/rumor-frys-forcing-mega-ps3wii-bundles-in-store-214459.php

Here is the rumored list of titles you will be required to buy.

With the PS3 you will be required to buy:

    NBA 2K7
    Resistance: Fall of Man
    Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire
    Madden 07
    Marvel Ultimate Alliance
    Tony Hawk's Project 8
    Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom
    1 other unnamed game

With the Wii you will be required to purchase:

    Madden NFL 07
    Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
    Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
    GT Pro Series
    Rampage: Total Destruction

Wow, good luck with that. Although it -is- an interesting scalper deterrent. But a shade to far, no?

How can that even be legal, forcing you to buy things you don't want? I guess the customer isn't always right.

I foresee some Fry's getting arsoned this weekend, and they deserve to burn. They don't even include Zelda for the wii, since they know that's the one game most people will buy anyways. Assholes.

I've never even heard of "Fry's" so at least that's one less wrinkle to deal with when I go get my Wii.

Damn I thought retailers were warned after the 360 came out not to do those bundles anymore. Man PS3 will be everywhere soon enough , like the 360 is now. Will just wait

That Wii deal sucks. They know most people will be after that new Zelda, so they left it off the 'required to buy ' list. Looks like they forcing them to buy the ones that won't sell as well.

I love the assumption that the same customer who wants to play Madden 07 will also want to play Super Monkey Ball

Forced??? I saw the $1080 PS3 bundle advertised in today's paper, but there was no mention of it being the only way to buy the system.

Maybe not, but if Store X has 10 PS3s, with 30 preorders, and half of them are willing to get the bundle, who do you think the store will give it to?

Very disappointing if true. Fry's easily became my favorite electronics store after Good Guys closed down, so I really hope this isn't a widespread thing. I don't want them to become Best Buy.

Wow, with a deal like that (and no advertising), I foresee them selling a lot of NOTHING this Holiday season.

I'm pretty sure you could take it up with someone, that they're forcing you buy something you don't want in compliment with another product. I'm sure making a scene (although I do hate people who do that) would yield some results from a store manager or something.

Man, Fry's is usually pretty consumer friendly. I wonder why they're doing this.

You see them selling nothing? Last year people were buying 360's off ebay for upwards of $1500.

When I say they'll sell nothing, I was thinking more along the lines of normal, mainstream consumers who would refuse options like that.

I'm sure there will be some people with no concepts of value who will pick this up.

That's insane. What's more insane is that it'll likely work, too.

it might not be frys fault, i work in a small game shop and last year any body who brought a 360 had to buy at least 4 games with it, this wasn't due to there choice the suppliers had forced the company to buy 5 or 6 games with every xbox 360 it brought. Passing such a package on is the only way to not lose alot of cash

Given the very limited supplies of PS3s this season, and the sadly-never-in-short-supply-holiday scalpers, Fry's WILL sell all their consoles.
