How much time pasted between the movie and season 3 of G1 Transformers. I just watched the episode with the Autobot tomb when Optimus comes back and I was wondering, when did they have time to build that thing? How long has Rodimus been the leader? I thought season 3 picked up right where the movie left off, but I guess not. Or is this just one of those G1 continuity potholes.
It's supposed to be around a year I think, just based on the "Secret Files of Teletraan-2" which states it's 2006 now
I'd call it a couple months, at least. You figure the Autobots had to restore Cybertron to habitable status in the wake of the Decepticon occupation and Unicron's attack, help the humans establish the EDC and hook them up with sweet 1960s space stations, rebuild Autobot City on Earth into Metroplex (a task that still wasn't complete by the time season 3 opens) and re-establish ties with the greater galactic community in order for the new Matrix Bearer to be Master of Ceremonies at the 2005/6 Galactic Games. Plenty of time in there to build a Manhattan-sized space-faring war memorial.
Yeah, it had to at least be. They went out of their way several times to state that it was 2006 now. It was even in the titles of one of the episodes (The Big Broadcast of 2006). Cue this to 3:00 Transformers Data Files - YouTube
There's at least several months between the movie and "Five Faces of Darkness", in which the characters seem to be in the late stages of tidying up after the movie, given that Metroplex's new transforming cog is only just being delivered at the time. FFoD is still dated by its opening narration to 2005, but as other posts have noted, the season's events would carry on through 2006.
I put no credibility towards this, but Rodimus did state "if you'd been dead for years" in the Dark Awakening episodes. However, at the same time, "The Secret Files Of Teletran 2" says that it's the year 2006. Whereas the movie states that "it is the year 2005." So pretty much, you can image however much time that you want went by in between the movie and the FFOD episodes.
Also, there's "The Big Broadcast of 2006", so it seems pretty clear that the date for the third season was to be 2006 - logical, as it's a straightforward twenty-year advance on its broadcast date. I like to think "Five Faces of Darkness" is the last story set in 2005, and then the season proper, post-mini-series, is in 2006 (with "The Return of Optimus Prime" falling in 2007, as it aired later than the rest, in early 1987).
yea in the movie it said it was the year 2005 and in the opening of ffod the narrator said it is the year 2005 after the ffod i think the rest of the season was in 2006 and the fourth season was in 2007.
