I'm wondering if either Bay decided not to go with Murphy's original intention of a G1-inspired movie, or if he's just changing his definition of "based on" to match what the fandom seems to think it means.
well the X-men movie was "based on" the comic, but it certainly wasn't any story told in any comic. Its not a direct adaptation with come changes like say, Jurassic Park from book to movie.
I'm glad he stated that specifically. It shows that the movie is very likely based on the G1 toyline with G1 characters(duh!), but the story has nothing to do with any previous timeline.
Michael Bay Update From Superherohype.com... Michael Bay's official message boards Admin 'Nelson' has posted an update with info from Bay about Transformers: 1- They will be releasing more teaser posters in the coming months. 2- Paramount made studies and concluded that the TF "ANNOUNCEMENT" was the 2nd highest rated "teaser" this summer. 3.- They just finished shooting a lot of Pentagon interiors on a soundstage in scenes that involved many Chiefs of staff in their huge war room. 4.- Shia just was recently suspended over the edge of a 20 story building in a very dynamic and intense scene. 5.- The average transformation time from normal mode to alt mode and vice versa is about 3 to 4 seconds. 6.- The leaked pictures are legit (although a somewhat early rendering). 7.- Filming of massive chase scenes will begin in the following weeks. 8.- The CGI transformations by ILM are looking wicked and nastier every single day. 9.- Part 1 will be about why the transformers came to earth. 10.- This movie will be a new start for the live action franchise that will not be based on any particular TF TV series and/or comic book. By the way, the top teaser of the summer was, of course... Spider-Man 3.
*9 - Part 1 meaning first part of the movie, or meaning the entire first movie relative to possible (inevitable?) sequels?
3-4 seconds eh? Little slower than the traditional time (not including the recent long transformation sequences of course), that'll either be for realism or that there are that many parts to shift about. Cool that there was so much interest in the teaser, hopefully we'll see the movie being one of the high-rollers at the box office next summer worldwide! So the leaked pics aren't final, I imagine that'll be more to do with the renders than the toy hardcopies we've seen, I doubt they'll change that much.
6- The leaked pictures are legit ( although a somewhat earlier rendering). So that means they could have changed things up a bit with character designs hopefully.
10.- This movie will be a new start for the live action franchise that will not be based on any particular TF TV series and/or comic book. Now they tell us.... Seriously, if they came up with that statement in the first place a lot of debate and 'fighting' would've have been avoided in our community.
Yeah, but you will decrease a lot of your stress if you just accept them as final. I mean you don't have to like them, but holding out for "maybe they will change!!!" will just make you even more upset when they don't. And they probably won't. -Dusty
