Transformers the Movie opened in the United States and Canada.
And how many years that is?
The day many children cried.
I had no idea that it was released until I saw it for rental at the local gas station. I still remember my dad renting that and GI Joe the movie...wasn't a good night watching Prime die and Duke nearly die.
and 4 years and 12 days later, i would be born (12 days and i'm an adult... crazy) and wouldn't discover until an extra 17 years later when the 2007 movie came out. thanks for listening to my life story.
On 08/08, friday, 22 years ago; Ledger died on the 22nd of January; the Olson's are 22!!! oh my god, I see the connections now, but its too late, nooooooo!!!!
Time for another special edition dvd!...with one new bonus feature!
Dude, actually Duke died but...Hasbro changed the script (read somewhere) by adding the announcement that Duke's fine towards the end of the movie!
I saw it the day it was released in the theater--still love it to this day. BUT, I'm also one of the guys that hates it because it killed off too many great characters (Ironhide, Prowl, Ratchet, Brawn, and even Optimus Prime). I also remember the day I finally found it in my local video store once it was released. I bet I rented that sucker 100 times, then they either sold it or trashed it or something. For a good 10 years, no video store I visited had it. I was dying to watch it again and I finally did when the ol' Rhino DVD release came out. Owned it and watched it quite a bit, until the more recent 2-disc Sony DVD came out with all the extras.
Still love this movie to this day though--and I recently got my niece and nephew to watch it and they loved it (my nephew laughed when Galvatron destroyed Starscream), but even they hated seeing some "cool guys" die.
Actually (*put on nerd hat*):
The original script had Duke die. It was sent off to the animators to begin animation. The backlash from the death of Optimus Prime hit Hasbro, and they decided they can't kill off Duke or they'd risk pissing off more parents and kids.
So the animation comes back, and Duke dies. That's why everyone is crying their fucking eyes out. But they change the dubbing, so that he goes in to a coma rather than die.
The end of the movie? Where they cheer? It was supposed to be because all the spores burned up in space. Not because Duke survived.
The day that will live in infamy for us Transformers fans when Optimus and Megatron duked it out in an epic animated movie
Ah I still remember it well. I was spending that week with my cousin. I was 13 and he was 9. Every other day my aunt gave us each $10 to walk up to the local mall and see a movie or go to the arcade or whatever. We watched that movie 3 times that week! Every night she would ask us what we did and after hearing of us watching Transformers 3 times in one week we lost our "mall money". But hey, man were those good times!
lol and its painfully obvious
I actually saw it the following weekend with my late Nephew. Great memories, I remember it like it was yesterday.
22 years has it been just yesterday Optimus Prime died for the first but not last time in theaters.
22 years. Wow.Eventhough it Saturday, I may just watchthe movie to commemorate the wonderous even.
Separate names with a comma.
