Hey guys. I'm finally reaching the stage where I am almost ready to shoot some photos. Got a new tripod last night and just need to finish up a few (thousand) touch ups.

Anyway, I picked up Blackout last night, and cried when I saw Hasbro's attempt of painting Scorponok. The sculpters put a phenominal amount of detail in this little guy, and it honestly felt like some guy at a factory drunkely swiped a brush across the whole body...1 time.

So this morning, I whipped out my tiny tiny brush and threw some paint on him. By the way, this was all done with ENAMELS.

Nice job frenzy, for such a small figure, you sure brought out a lot of its detail.

Holy cow, that looks great! At first I thought I was looking at the deluxe-sized version of the figure, and I was wondering what you had done to its claws...

Then I realized it was the teeny one! :)

thanks guys. I actually just modified a bit more. I literally blobbed white paint where his eyes are, giving nice 3D bumps. when that dried, I dipped my Xacto into some black paint, and created pupils (like a snake's eyes) just a VERY thin vertical line. looks cool, I'll post pic when I'm home from work :)

Wow. I've been thinking about doing that, but after seeing this one, there's no way anything I can do will look good.

hey, you should cut away the plastic between his claws. I did so with mine and it looks a lot better!

Did you have to give it a top coat, prime coat, or is that plastic good enough for enamel to dry on? Wait a few days, then firmly press with your thumb (prehaps on the underside) for a few seconds, if you leave a smudge or your thumb sticks, a top coat might fix the problem.

Awsome!! That looks great. I am glad to see some of your work. Does the tail come off? Doing that kind of stuff really makes me want to lower my standards. HAHAHA. You know I'm kidding. I can't wait to see more!!!

enamels with a light coat of spray finish. the paint is THIN, which is key for enamels. building it up will invite dents and marks. I also bake my finished products at a low oven temp, this ensure all the lower coats are EXTRA dry. trust me, this paint isn't moving.

That thing looks great. I'm planning on doing the same thing with my little mini-Scorponok, and your really awesome job gives me hope that my attempt won't suck. :)

You wouldn't happen to have any pics, or descriptions of what you did and how you did it, would you? That doesn't sound like a bad idea.
