BIN is $150 or Best Offer... Does anyone remember what the original auction went for? CUSTOM TRANSFORMERS CLASSICS GRAPPLE!!! LOOK!!! - eBay (item 250464197725 end time Jul-20-09 14:38:18 PDT)
Some customs dont fair too well being resold do they?.... One of Jin's went for less than $50 I believe last week....
Yea, it was that sweet custom using the Bulkhead mold. It's a two-way street IMO: this gives someone an opportunity two own a custom they missed out on or couldn't afford originally. But you're right about them not doing well when they're resold. Might be better to get the original artist to endorse it, that way you can get a little more back at least.
This isn't the original that was auctioned off, the seller states that it was a later commission from F_R. So, for all we know, $150 is what he paid to commission it and they're trying to get back what they initially paid for it. The original had flashing lights, this one doesn't.
Thanks for the info. I was looking to see if it had actual lights. Didn't the original also have articulated hands? Oh well, it's still a great piece at a great price.
It doesn't say in the auction: It just says: & Regardless, that has nothing to do with what Satomi and I were talking about, it does seem like that Commissions that are resold, don't fair well on eBay for some reason.... Looks like someone is a happy camper anyways....someone hit the B.I.N. button....
I don't quite understand your comparison quotes, they both say it was a F_R commission. So...?? Satomi seemed to insinuate that it may have been the original one that was auctioned off, and that was what I was talking to him about.
I think it's in part due to the fact that only a handful of collectors would pay big money for customs. And when resold, you obviously have 1 less such collector to bid on the custom. Usually when bids go very high it's due to bidding wars between a few (maybe just 2) collectors who really want it.
Glad it went to a better home. This was actually a commission for the same Grapple (minus the lights and other stuff like mentioned above) They actually commissioned another project after receiving Grapple, and the deposit was just refunded.
plowking was simply pointing out that the auction description could potentially be misleading because someone might have thought that it was the first one f_r made. It seems that you both were pointing to the same thing. I'd say this is accurate. Plus, the original hype of the newness surrounding the custom when it's originally made is gone. Plus, they're probably all fighting over the latest custom anyways. As deep as their pockets seem to go, I'd say everyone has their limit. Well, the auction was over by the time of your post, so it really doesn't matter. Of course, you could commission one when you do
