Just got some ebay buying in the post

Received a large package thinking it was the scorponok body I won and paid something like £1 for thanks to an ebay coupon..

Just opened it up and its not scorpy

Its a complete set for railracer... and a transformers vrs gijoe comic...

    Very confused - I don't collect RID - esp MISB ...

Have contacted all the sellers I recently bought things from - no joy..

Very confused... all there is a postcode and house number on the return to address.. but would cost me to send it back with no likelyhood I would see the money back for being honest..

only option is try and track down the telephone number and call them... or be dishonest and keep them ... Why me....?!

    Post them to me?

On a more serious note - any way to find seller's addresses etc. and match it up with the one on the box? Is there a packing slip or anything in there?

nothing .. no invoice or anything

All there is, is the postcode and house number - so have the address.. but its not listed on BT for a phone number.. not paying £10 out my own pocket, can't afford to at the moment..

Short of emailling every seller I've bought from in the last month or so .. don't know what to do - it was sent recorded but its not been signed for so if I can't track the sender down to sort it out at least they can claim through the post office

Well hold on to them for a few weeks at least. The seller might realise their mistake and contact you.

I'd say after a month, finders keepers?

The only sure fire way to avoid karma is to mail it overseas (Canada for example -- Alberta is always a good choice ;)  ). Once the package is half a world away, karma will be unable to determine who to kick and will likely just give up. At least I have heard that somewhere.

Could always just send a letter rather than the whole thing back. Give him or her your # and enough info to get the idea and let them contact you if they want. Of course, if you get a hold via phone first, then no worries.

I'd say do this, in addition to continuing with the phone calls. If this wasn't sent by the seller who sold you a Scorponok body (which it's probably not, otherwise this wouldn't be so difficult for you), there doesn't seem to be much point in simply sending the stuff away. Leave it untouched, go through a reasonable amount of effort to find out what's going on and help the seller correct this error. And if nothing pans out - a month sounds like a good amount of time to wait - enjoy your new Railracer. Or sell it. Or give it away and pass on your good fortune to someone else in need.

Once upon a time, I won multiple auctions from an ebay wholesaler offloading some old Wireless Access Points in a dutch auction, cause I wanted to set up some wireless bridges between rooms on opposite sides of the house.

The guy accidently sent me four brand new, top of the line routers instead, each worth probably 4 times what I paid for the WAPs.

I emailed him and informed him of his mistake; partly trying to be a good person, and partly just...because I couldn't bridge the routers, so they were useless to me! The guy wrote back that he did not make that sort of mistake, and if I wanted to pay to mail the routers back, he would evaluate the situation and make a decision.

I told him to screw off, kept one for myself, gave one to a friend, sold one, (Which covered my initial purchase completely) and traded the last one for...a wireless bridged pair of WAPs. :D

...Sometimes karma works both ways. Enjoy your pizza!
