I was reading up on Welker's previous roles regarding Transformers on IMDb and came across a nice information bite which could or could not hint at further involvement for the voice actor in DOTM - adding to his Soundwave role.

As most Transformers fan boys will know, Welker voiced many Cybertronians in the original cartoons - mainly Decepticons. But, in the trivia section on IMDb it was said "He voiced two of the original Autobots as well: Trailbreaker and Mirage."

This is no way says that he will voice Mirage in Bay's spin on Transformers, but it's definitely a possibility - especially as he's already on board. Furthermore if Mirage is going to be a deceptive character, Welker's voice could work well with his darker side.

Mirage will have an Italian accent. So if Welker can do it - no problem. But it's highly unlikely.

Welker is a brilliant voice actor with terrfic range, he could do it.

I think the guy that voiced ezio in assasins creed would be perfect as he had a deep voice that would sound good coming from the robot.

 

Michael Bay said that to Colider, Empire and several others movie sites:

"Colider: Will Ferrari have an Italian accent?

Bay: Yes. And Ferrari will have to approve the voice. They just want it to be not cheesy Italian. They want it to be something that fits the car."

 

Okay, thanks. That then clears up whether Welker will be the ideal voice actor to play him or not. But if Ferrari haven't approved it or the production team decide against the Italian accent, I guess good old Frank's still on the cards for a promotion. I hope so anyway, I don't want any more cheesy accents!

I think Ferraris involvement with approving the voice will prevent this from happening.

 

IF Welker can do it? We're talking about a man who can imitate a call on a pay phone — the coin dropping in the slot, the ringing, the operator, and both sides of the conversation - with ease. I think an Italian accent, any variety, will be to him what is technically known as a "piece of piss".

Its very possible. I suppose only time will tell.

 

I know he was having problems doing the German version of Soundwave in RotF, because of that, no one's quite sure if it's him or another dude. I have no idea if that could be a hint or not of his Italian-accent capabilities.
