I'm a huge fan of this series, but the toys aren't exactly the newest ones out there. To my horror, Transmetal Megatron has a reputation of breaking.

    So I'm wondering...
Does a list of fragile beast wars toys exist? I'd like to know which I should avoid.

    Thanks in advance.

I think the only one infamous for breaking is Transmetal megatron, his brown plastic shoulders are far too brittle so if you get him, be careful (the armada repaint is far more stable for some reason)

Gold Plastic Syndrome - Transformers Wiki - Teletraan I has a list of those ultra fragile

    Hmmm. Thanks

Is there anything else fragile, though? Not from GPS, but from bad construction/engineering?

I think other than GPS, TM Megatron and Torca, the main issue is with Transmetals. The chrome like finish can scratch/flake off really easily. If buying used, look closely at the "metal" parts.

Toys are not meant to last for years and years, but the common problem is that the chromed areas can flake on Transmetals. Then there's TM Megatron's shoulders. There's a japanese BW fig, Randy, who disintergrates due to his gold plastic body.

Yea Transmetal Megatron is pretty bad, his legs are also prone to breaking due to the screws inside. all of my friends who bought him broke there's accidentally as well.

There are a few others from what i can remember a few of the deluxes plastic balljoints from the first two waves were prone to breaking specifically int he legs. Tarantulas and Bonecrusher were the two i can specifically remeber having problems with. but then again being 8-10 years old at the time can't have helped either!

FYI, Metals Megatron, the Japanese version, does not suffer from this issue.

Good to know. I have the American release and, while he hasn't broken yet, it's nice to know there's a backup if he does.

In any case, another BW toy that apparently suffers from GPS is Silverbolt (the eagle, not the TM2 owl)

I think its all different sometime. I have 2 versions of the transmetal megatron and both in perfect shape, then i have some transmetals flaking and some are not, transmetal tarantulas looks like he came right out the box and my scourge is flaking, might need to replace him.

Judging on the one thread, 10th Anniversary Dinobot is probably a candidate for GPS. I can see why, considering his plastic does feel different compared to others. :(

Can't really think of too many other than what has already been mentioned.

You know, I hear a lot about Torca suffering from GPS, but I've never seen one broken due to it or heard of one breaking from it. Speculative GPS?

By any chance are you referring to Silverbolt the eagle, who comes in the Magnaboss combiner set with the elephant Ironhide and the lion Prowl?

happened to mine some years ago, the most problematic part is the tail, snce its on a hinge. The other pieces are attacged to better plastic so there´s less friction (IIRC of course)

    Ah, damn.

It's harder to find a metals Megatron that it is find a beast wars one. I'm pretty sure it'd take more out of my wallet, too.
