Basically took the Fansproject "Not-Insecticons" and modded them using the TRU Reissue Insecticons. Heads were hollowed out and ball sockets that I had cast from the PE Shadow Warrior figures were inserted, making use of the existing ball joints for their necks. They were base coated using HoK flat black, followed by a custom purple and yellow, with various drybrushed and detailed with Testors enamels. I must say, these figures aren't very customizer friendly, they gave me lots of headaches throughout the process. I suppose I could've left them alone, but who does that anymore right? Very cool looking figures with lots of articulation, but joints are extremely tight, and their transformation is harder than calculus. Anyhoo, here they are.
I adore what you've done here!! Been looking at these pictures it seems for ages! I love the gold-yellow effect, and Kickback's head makes that figure look sooo much better! Wonderful outcome. I'm halfway through making some changes to my FP insect trio, I'll be over the moon if mine come out half as good as yours!
While the FP Insecticons are very cool as-is... It simply amazes me how much BETTER they get when someone slaps G1 parts on them! Very nicely done.
This. They look awesome! I'd already done Shrapnel but I need a G1 kickback head and Bombshell antennae stat. Only thing I'd suggest is flipping Kickback's wings....perfect G1 in robot then.
Thanks guys. These molds have been sitting on my shelf for months while I tried to decided what to do with them. In the end, G1 was the only way to go, even with as cool as they looked from FP. I just wish they were a bit simpler with their transformation, so many rub issues with these guys that I still don't think I got after hours of sanding.
OOOooo, they look great!...amazing what a bit of paint and some G1ish parts can do... I was in the middle of working on my FP insecticons when Herc parts started coming out...needlesstosay, they got backburnered
