Entitled, the 'Sarah Connor Chronichles' (working title), it follows Sarah and John Connor after the events of Terminator 2 as they go on the run. Could be cool if done right.

"Fox has officially greenlit "The Sarah Connor Chronicles," a TV series based on the TERMINATOR movies and following the Sarah Connor character Linda Hamilton originated in the first two movies. David Nutter ("Smallville," "Dark Angel") will direct the pilot based on a script by Josh Friedman, the WAR OF THE WORLDS writer who's also been frequently blamed for the start of the SNAKES ON A PLANE hype. The series will follow Sarah and John Connor after the events of TERMINATOR 2, when they go on the run. Says producer James Middleton, "She has the weight of the world on her shoulders, and she also has to raise a 14-year-old son who may be the salvation of the world." Interestingly enough, it was Nutter's appearance at the Comic-Con this year that got him involved when he stumbled upon Friedman's script. Casting on "Sarah Connor" is expected to begin immediately - Hamilton and Edward Furlong are not involved in any capacity - with filming set to take place early next year in Mexico. Fox would begin airing the series in Fall of 2007."

Could be cool - I wonder if there will be new terminators sent, or if it will just be an action show.

In terms of popularity, yes, but not in terms of technology. To do what they did in T1 and T2 cost millions of dollars. Now the same kind of technology is relatively cheaper, and could be pulled off in a on-going television series.

Why not give it a try? Smallville worked.

actually, this has promise, based on some of the better terminator mini series comics by dark horse. the concept is perfect for a tv serial.

Can't they come up with any original ideas in TV? Fox takes out 'Arrested Development' for this?

I liked the Terminator movies, but this?

No it took out Arrested Development for low ratings.

At the very least, a Terminator-inspired series will draw ratings for an episode or two. I have to be convinced that it can work as a series, but I'm willing to keep an open mind on the issue.

Wouldn't the more obvious choice be to set it after T3 and show the war with the machines? They could have giant battles with Terminators, actually develop John Connor from pussy to hero, introduce new Terminator designs and give us more Reese.

Darn thing is, if the person in charge of Smallville is pitching this, it might be good for a year or two, but by the third season, we're just gonna have Terminators every episode, liquid metal people, and new advanced models. It'll be like taking place of T3, or retconning T2 or something.

Just like how Smallville started out as "adventures of young Clark Kent growing up," but it's now basically just "the Superman show that has all the villains and characters, but he just doesn't wear the tights."

Isn't there another Terminator movie planned which takes place after T3 ? Why would they make a TV show after the events of T3 ?

This show sounds funny. It's not an action show right ? It's one of those dramas like 7th Heaven I hope. John Conner's first date, the dangers of drugs, you know, a good old wholesome family show !

Because that would be hard to do on a TV budget, and the Terminators were, as I recall, relatively late additions to the SkyNet army.
