althought it doesn't look like that guy solved the head issue really either, and is pulling a partsformer.

Be interested to see what sorta guns he gives em too.

Not bad. There was another guy who made that Halo character from a Cybertron Metroplex.

Blitzfire, partsformer is when you have to remove certain parts to transform the figure into whichever mode (most G1 figures were partsformers). Weapons removal is normally accepted but not other stuff like heads, hands, etc. This custom looks to be a straight repaint (except the head) so I'm not sure why this one is considered a partsformer though. Unless the head has to be removed?

the way the head fits into the tank part on his back, flips over during transformation - the cavity is pretty much only big enough for the head it comes with, or one smaller. To go wider, which that one looks like it does (although I could be wrong) they either had to cut the hole wider, which isn't ideal, OR the head pops off and is set aside for alt mode.

like, if you look at the Ultra Magnus Jin did, the head looks pretty small for the body imo, but you kind of have to go that route since the stock head was more thin and tall, again to fit into the cavity of the tank-thing on the back.

thus the partsformers thing. although I've got nothing against that idea like a lot of people seem to, it's just not a route I'd wanted to go (although I'd considered it), and was trying to keep the head on all the time.

    am I rambling yet? :p

Here, I've got an extra one I just popped the head off of to show. On the ebay page you can see the head is def. wider than the stock one, which is what makes me believe it's probably popped off when it goes to tank mode.

Although they don't show pics from the back, so maybe he did take a dremel to the whole (although again in my mind, not ideal) cavity and the head stays on.

I saw this ebay listing last night, and I'm so pissed off because I bought this mold to do the same thing. Oh well, guess there will be 2 now.

yet, mines gonna have a TON of extra weapons / features.

EDIT: shti, after reading better, looks like 3.

Oh that's an extra one, un-modded.

I've pretty much only primed it and taken the wheels off - like I said I was procrastinating on the head, looks like too long.

You'll def beat me though, I'm swamped with work, so blah.

Those are some nice customs! Good idea using the Chief Kubrick head too...almost tempted to grab some Sculpey and make a copy of the head to put on a Transformer.
