Definitely, so would I. I'll give Takara until the end of the year to do a reissue, before I buy a vintage one. I have my doubts as to whether it would happen, but if they can put out products like those overpriced watches ($300 right there) and Masterpiece Grimlock, then Max isn't out of the question from a price point perspective.

    Buy it for maybe $50....

Edit: Hell, I'd only get a junker Cerebros cheap to kitbash.

It's been a long time, but my recollection is that I only paid around $100 for Brave Max during Car Robots. I definitely didn't pay more than $125. There's no way in hell I'd pay $300 for a reissue of Fort Max just to get different colors and more accessories. They ain't worth that much to me.

I don't think it's likely that Fort Max would even get an Encore release given how terribly Brave Max sold, but IF he did I'd expect US import shop prices to be no higher than $200, possibly a little lower like $175. That Predaking reissue was ~$130-150 during preorders, but Predaking is pretty big himself, and they were the metal versions which are both more expensive to make and heavier to ship. Fort Max would obviously be bigger and a little heavier (all plastic though) than that and would command a somewhat higher price, but not enough to justify more than double.

I don't even have the 50 to spend to get the UM/Skywarp twin pack, so I think 300 is too much for me. Besides there's no way Takara would sell it for as little as 300. Don't they charge an ungodly amount just for deluxe seekers?

Don't give this crap that I have $50 bucks! If you really want it, I'm sure you would save up your cash and rob your peggy bank!

True. I was being unrealistic about prices. I'll just continue a search for a junker Cerebros body and Spike Headmaster for less than $10.
Wasn't Fort Max about $100 back when he first came out in 1987?

Someday I'll conjure up the time and money for a $300 complete G1 Fortress Maximus.

I do remember seeing it at Circus World(defunct toy store chain) around Christmas time 1987 for $89.99. I bought HM Brainstorm and targetmaster Blurr that day.

I was 13 years old. I only had about $30 so it was out of the question.

Incidentally, my sister was supposed to buy me Scorponok for Christmas that year but she waited around too long and it sold out. She bought me a Sixshot instead that I sill have to this day.

I'm 99% sure that I paid $120 with shipping at the time.

For $300, I think a reissue Fortress Maximus would be something I'd talk myself into after awhile. I don't feel a need to buy it and it's certainly not on the list of 'G1 characters who may never get a reissue that I'll choose to track down an original of to round out my personal G1 wants.' I'd rather shill for a decent condition G1 Devastator, complete, than a Fortress Maximus reissue (and I'm definetly not buying a decent condition, complete original Maximus based on some of the prices I see them go for).

I've talked myself into a few figures I didn't anticipate buying at first (reissues of Omega Supreme and Metroplex, and I'm glad I did after I got ahold of them) and had no qualms of picking up other expensive figures (MP Prime w/trailer, MP Grimlock, Henkei exclusive Seekers)...but even I have my limits, and spending more for a toy than I do on my monthly car payment would make even me question whether it's a wise idea.

So yeah, maybe after awhile, but it's not something I'm dying to see. If Takara wants to hock some highly priced reissue that may not be economically viable to sell, how about investing in reverse engineering lost molds and giving me a new G1 Devastator/Constructicons or Dinobots or Wheeljack? I'd rather see that than Fortress Maximus any day.

They may not have those molds. If that was the case, I think we would have already seen Devastator, Dinobots, or Wheeljack before we would have seen Bruticus.

Either way, I'm glad they reissue the G1.

I never said they did; that's why I said I'd rather they invest in reverse engineering to get those molds back.

Come to think of it, there was a G2 Devastator. I don't see why there shouldn't be an Encore one!

I never said you did either!

Reverse engineering would cost more than to build a new one from scratch.
