I’ve specialised in G1 and pre-G1 for years now, but along the way I’ve jumped on a few bandwagons and gotten caught up in what was hot at the time, for the most part that stuff has been sold off as I re-focused and prioritised certain toy categories I really liked. Some Transformers survived the many great purges and hobby-rage-quits I’ve subjected my collection to over the years, and often they haven’t survived because I forgot about them, but because I picked them up to assess how much I wanted to sell them, and always put them down again. This is my tribute to the forgotten corners of my collection.

Yeah Maz, many a time I find myself doing purging of stuffs.

For some strange reason, I gotten rid of A,E & C but find myself still holding onto the Car Robots 2K stuffs surprisingly. (And this line is way much earlier than AEC.)

I have to say I'm in the same boat with you regarding JRX. If I were to ever do a collection purge, JRX would have nothing to worry about. I still think it's one of the best combiners ever created. On par with Hercules, Giant, and Classics Bruticus w/ Fansproject add-ons.

Great Article! I too am thinking of getting rid of some dead weight in my collection soon. And like you and Auto would only want to keep the RID/ Car robots stuff.

Makes me regert allowing my mom to get rid of my Armada toys way back when I was like 8 or 9. Too bad the only survivor of that "purge" was Heavy Load. :(

Maz, if you're looking for Brake-Neck, I've got him AND his Cardback. Just shoot me an offer, and I'll see how much shipping this little thing and his Cardback to the UK would cost.
If I can find It, I'll toss in the Instruction sheet, too.

Geez, almost forgotten that I still have all of 'em sealed in original package in my warehouse storage...

And I hope they're not yellowed by now. :redface2:

This is very well said. For those of us who contribute in ways to our fandom (be it photos writing, or whatever), I think this sums up a lot of how we each feel.

JRX/Rail Racer is awesome, btw :)

I agree whole heartily with you about JRX. I've never been on a purge (almost 14 years of collecting now!) so I can't really relate. But I hate that you have uncovered some more minicons I didn't even knew existed! Like you said. Minicons are a slippery slope...

Nice article Maz! Quick question about the UK green Brimstone Mini-con - was yours assembled properly? I have a couple of them and they're completely misassembled.

I had never noticed any of them being mis-assembled but I only had one loose one that I freed from package, the rest remained sealed and sold.

I wouldn't be at all surprised though, almost all the Skyhammers were misassembled, and the Heavytread shoulder joint was broken on 75% of them.

    All the best
